s targeted at the growing ranks of gigging electronic artists who want to interact with their sequencing tools in real time as they perform or compose. Superficially resembling a typical drum pad–based controller for software synths and DAWs, the BSP is a slimline tablet of metal and off–white plastic. Simple controls are available for sync source, tempo and pattern lengths and a equally straight forward approach is put in place for swing settings, and a pattern randomizer, which creates countless variations to your sequences. Two independent step sequencers and a separate drum sequencer make it a highly versatile, instantly variable creative tool.

I also have the pads and encoders (in control mode) triggering samples and effects in Geist via my Reaper DAW. You can then choose which finance term you'd like to apply for, and change your deposit if you wish.I've been using the sequencer with my Buchla system via MIDI in, and it's been much easier to keep the Buchla in tune with BeatStep Pro in comparison to analog step sequencers I've used. Patterns running on each of the three concurrent tracks are independent in terms of length, clock division and direction — ideal for polyrhythms and complexity!

Individual hits may be shifted in time (over a range of +/– 50 units) and the maximum shift almost overlaps the next voice, giving flam–type effects. Computer Music magazine is the world’s best selling publication dedicated solely to making great music with your Mac or PC computer. While the Beatstep Pro can rightfully claim to be a MIDI controller and step sequencer, the emphasis is firmly on the latter.

There’s an internal clock you can either dial in directly or set by tapping, with the tempo specified to 100th of a bpm.

In the case of note sequences, those charcoal grey encoders are used to program the pitch, velocity and gate length.

Patterns can be played backward and in back and forth fashion, but the same issue applies- as soon as you change the direction, you’ll lose sync with the other sequences. You will hear a constant drone coming out of your modular, and it puts out a constant voltage that transposes your notes too heh.The drum and melodic sequencers make it a perfect companion to any DAW, offering a new approach to composition. If you do prefer to have faders, knobs and buttons under hand, the one thing we will all agree on is that the integration between. Using the pads and shift key, you can change a pattern’s direction and playback rate or activate any of the scales printed on the panel. The two monophonic sequencers are functionally identical, and all three sequencers share some common features.
