But they’re tiny niggles for a set that you’ll love putting together, and admire even more when it’s finished. An improvement would be to have the plexiglass less shiny and exposed to a direct source of light it is pretty reflective. This set is a bit unusual in that it has a well rounded and irregular base, which is a stark contrast to the angular bases that I’m used to in the LEGO Architecture series. If fellow users in the LEGO Ideas community up vote the project to 10000 then LEGO Group has a committee which votes on whether to build the set and release it. The heavy stonework on the corners of the building is constructed using a technique that takes advantage of the fact that 1x2 tiles can be positioned 'off grid' which allows them to be aligned where they meet the tiles at right-angles to them.

As with so many LEGO sets, the first bag is all about building a sturdy base and applying some light decoration to it. The three subassemblies simply stack on top of each other as they do in modular buildings, held in place with a handful of studs. I'm definitely going to be purchasing this set, however, I'm a little disappointed in the small amount of armour included and the including of a husky instead of a goat, chicken, or pig which would have made more sense to me.I am very impressed with this attention to detail, since blacksmiths would often use different shapes of raw material for creating different products! The instructions indicate that a SNOT brick goes in the back corner of the model, but does not specify the orientation. At any rate there were many spitz-type breeds in Europe by the 1600s, and there must have been more than a few there earlier as well. In terms of build time, I assembled Medieval Blacksmith in seven hours and 33 minutes (453 minutes total). While I agree that blue is an odd colour for the roof, I have to pick you up on your comment about the medieval period being dull and muted.

And 6040 probably worked exclusively for the local military, while 6918 appears to have been forced out of business. If you even have a passing interest in Lego castle, whether from nostalgia or just an interest in all things Medieval, this is absolutely not a set to consider or wait on. The Black Falcons faction habited LEGO Castle between 1984 and 1988 in six sets, and one re-release in 1992. I don’t mind the use of 151 Sand Green along the ridge of the roof (which I’m guessing is meant to be moss), but the 23 Bright Blue Blue color breaks the realism as it is too saturated and doesn’t match any realistic building materials for a modest building/home of the medieval period. On the other side of the kitchen, you finish off the stove area and add in a pot holder attached to the wall. By doing this, you can see where the active coals are and where the newly loaded coals get thrown on.
