Covering topics like foods, brands, clothing, inventors, films and sports, there’s a great breadth of topic to ponder over. Some serious and some more fun.

But with the latter, I think, you have EVERYTHING from that category to list from. In Tension, you could give a correct answer, but it might not be on the card. A Question Mark means you have to predict a number (after hearing the title of the round) and score exactly that in the round or don’t move at all. Tension is a naming game of classic proportions. The game includes loads of questions with 10 given answers to those questions. There may be more answers than are written in those 10 but only the 10 on the card count! Tension really is a game of its name as the pressure of the one minute timer can make even the fullest brain empty of all its knowledge. Watching the other players flounder to think of any more ‘fruits’ is almost more fun than winning.With the cards being double sided, it means it will take a while to work through all the cards. Some of ours were quite straight topics, but one of mine was ‘types of bed’ – and it wasn’t just furniture beds included. I totally missed out things like ‘sea bed’! Landing on a swirly mark moves you forward a number of spaces equal to the spaces you moved to land on it. This is interesting as you may want to ‘restrict yourself’ to 4-5 points just to land on a double space. If you’re a bit of a list fanatic, then you’ll enjoy this game. I think I’d be happy just reading through all the cards, but turning lists into a board game is a lot of fun. I can see how good it would be with a crowd of people. But it works for us as a twosome as well. Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, Northern Ireland and the Scottish Highlands) may take longer to reach you. Tension truly is a hidden gem of a family quiz game. It’s consistently gripping from start to finish and keeps players engrossed throughout. Furthermore, the top 10 fun doesn’t have to stop with the base game, as there are multiple expansions that can be added for more list themed fun!

So there you have it. My top ten cents on Tension and why I wholeheartedly believe it deserves a place in everyone’s house. The simple rules and wide subject matter make it a great choice for families, or a lightweight trivia starter to your game night. The game suggests playing as two teams of two but can be just as easily played without the scoring board and team rules - just challenge each other and see who knows the most. You only get 1 minute to give as many answers as you can on a subject, therefore the questions are not the most difficult.
