The last time they spoke, Kit was slogging from mundane workdays to obligatory happy hours to crying in the shower about their dead mother. She told Natalie she was sure there was something more out there. You’ll be gripped in this clever exploration of fear and vulnerability right until the flawless ending—one you’ll most certainly want to talk about.”— ASHLEY AUDRAIN, New York Times bestselling author of The Push Expertly paced, hugely unsettling, and perfectly dark, you’ll be gripped in this clever exploration of fear and vulnerability right until the flawless ending—one you’ll most certainly want to talk about. I’m so glad that I ended up giving this book a chance! I read so many thrillers that I rarely find one that stands out but This Might Hurt is truly unique to the genre. Not only does it contain one, but it contains all of the following: The CEO leans forward, mouth slightly ajar as if a cigar is usually perched there. He oversees a household-name beer that's been losing market share to craft breweries for years. As sales have slipped, my new agency has found itself on thinner and thinner ice with this client.

Hurt review – Ben Whishaw stars in a realism This Is Going to Hurt review – Ben Whishaw stars in a realism

For good or ill, we’ve come a long way since ER. When it aired in 1994, it was the first mainstream global hit to depict the medical profession with any degree of realism. Though it still had George Clooney as the hospital paediatrician so, y’know, it wasn’t literal warts and all, that’s for sure. Over in the UK, launching in the same year, but with inevitably more local – though still heartfelt – acclaim we had Cardiac Arrest. That was all warts, sliced off by the writer and former NHS doctor Jed Mercurio and placed under a brutally unforgiving microscope. He followed that up 10 years later with Bodies, a full dissection of the people, players and power structures that simultaneously support and destroy what could be the best health system in the world, adapted from his own autobiographical novel of the same name.

Wrobel has honed her writing style even more sharply since her strong debut novel...and is again delivering her readers a 'ripped from the headlines' story. This Might Hurt contains moments and characters recognizable to those familiar with the NXVIM cult and its downfall, although the twists and turns are all Wrobel's own, and will leave readers guessing until the very end. Sisters Natalie and Kit Collins have drifted apart since their mother passed away. While Natalie has refocused her energy into her job, Kit decided to join a wellness retreat of sorts for six months. Cults. Sisterly bonds. Magic. Self reflection. Childhood trauma. Unconventional therapy. Isolation. These are a few of the focal points of this twisted, disturbing and absorbing tale. This novel revolves around the love and loyalty between sisters. The characters were remarkable and memorable. The POV changes between Natalie and Kit. There are also chapters told from the perspective of a daughter of a tyrannical, diabolical father. Imagine having to accrue enough activity points to be allowed to sleep at night. It takes awhile to figure out who this daughter is. World Cup wins 2022 in record breaking year for BBC iPlayer". BBC Media Centre. 31 January 2023 . Retrieved 31 January 2023. Overall, despite the funny moments in the book, This Might Hurt a Bit left me feeling a bit lukewarm about the story.

This Might Hurt by Stephanie Wrobel: 9780593100103

Kit has embraced this way of life and has come into her own at Wisewood, just like so many others before her. After experiencing Munchausen’s by proxy via Darling Rose Gold I knew I was going to be the first in line for whatever Stephanie Wrobel came up with next. I didn’t bother reading a blurb or anything before requesting an early copy. And then I got one! The gods smile upon me!!!!!! Now all I have to say is . . . . Read-Alikes are one of the many benefits of membership. To see the complete list of this book's read-alikes, you need to be a member. In a past timeline, there are two sisters who grew up with a deeply depressive mother and a sadistic, abusive father, Sir, who mentally manipulated and controlled them through daily tasks ranging from innocuous to cruel, supposedly designed to position them for success later in life. These girls couldn’t wait to get away from their father, and for 25% of the book while I debated whether to DNF, I couldn’t wait to get away from him too. Parents being cruel to children … grrr. I don’t want to read it, no matter how it serves the plot. With her second novel, the author of Darling Rose Gold (2020) brings more multi-point-of-view fun to thriller fans.
