Description

Bed Rails are designed to keep infants safe from falling out of bed whilst they sleep, and help young children to progress from a cot to a bed with ease.Bed rails for toddlerscan make the transition from a cot to a bed much easier on both parents and children, providing a familiar, secure sleep environment for children and reassurance to parents that their child is unable to fall out of bed. Regular cleaning:Toddler bed rails should be cleaned regularly to prevent the buildup of dirt and bacteria. Use a mild soap and warm water to clean the rails, and dry them thoroughly with a clean towel. Some bed rails have covers that can be removed and washed in a washing machine. Although unable to fold down fully, mesh bed rails fold down to an angle of 90 degrees enabling you to access the bed with ease. Mesh bed rails are recommended as the best option for travelling due to their lightweight and portable design, easy fold-down mechanism, and compatibility with most beds and mattresses. Providing your curious toddler with the freedom to leave their bed when adults may be sleeping requires some safety planning. Many families decide that a safety gate across the bedroom door will provide an early warning system that their child is awake and ready to start their day, giving tired parents and carers an extra couple of minutes to wake up themselves! More importantly, the stair gate will restrict exploration to their bedroom, keeping inquisitive tots away from toiletries in bathrooms or hazards in other rooms such as older siblings’ toys or small items which could be a choking hazard or similar.

Safetots Mesh Bed Railsare suitable for a bed with a mattress sunken in to the frame and for beds with a wooden slatted base. Safetots Wooden Bed Railsare suitable for wooden beds with a slatted base and also beds with a sunken mattress. If you have a sunken mattress, it’s important to choose a bed rail without bulky hinges which may prevent the bed rail from fitting between the mattress and the bed frame.

What age to use bed rails?

Some mesh bed guards feature elastic straps that stretch around the mattress to secure the bed guard in place. As standard bed guards are not designed for double beds, these straps will not stretch to fit across a double mattress. However, the weight of a double mattress alone will safely and securely keep the bedrail in place. Bed guards can be fitted either side of your double bed if required." Do you need the bed rail to fold down? If YES you may need to opt for a mesh bed rail that rotates at a 90 degree angle as wooden bed guards do not rotate.

All of our bed safety rails are suitable for cot beds, single beds, queen beds, and double beds, and our wooden bed guards range in length from 110cm to extra wide at 140cm. These bed rails have a standard height of 38cm, but wide and extra tall options are available. text": "Safetots bed side rails are designed to prevent children from falling out of bed while they sleep, and are safety tested in accordance with today's current safety standards. text": "If your child’s bed is against a wall, you will only need to fit one bed guard to the exposed side of the bed. Should your child's bed be in the centre of their bedroom, a bed guard fitted to both sides of the bed is advised. Bed rails simply aid in preventing your child from falling out of their bed as they make the transition from a cot to a bed and therefore if in the middle of a room, double bed rails are advised." Mesh bed rails are light weight and suitable for home or travel and some come complete with their own travel bag. Mesh bed rails are made from a metal, outer frame encased with a strong, breathable mesh. Before positioning your bed guard, it is important to ensure you are fitting a suitable bed rail for the bed and mattress intended. With all bed rails and child bed guards, it is recommended that there is at least a clear 25cm gap between each end of the bed and the bed rail.Don't cover the bed guard in fabrics or clothing. This could make the bed guard dangerous, as it could prevent your child from being able to breathe when against the guard. Always make sure that the bed guard is completely breathable, and there's nothing preventing air from getting in and out. text": "Safetots bed rails range in size from a narrow 90cm in length through to 140cm in length. Choosing a bed guard with the most suitable height and length for your bed will really come down to the size of your bed and the depth of the mattress. Our bed rail buyer's guide includes step-by-step instructions for choosing the right sized bed guard for your child's bed. No! It is not advised that you install a bed rail to the foot or head of the bed. Bed guards should be installed across the sides of a bed only. Measure the length of your child’s bed and make sure you can achieve a 25cm gap at either end of the bed rail once installed. Both mesh and wooden bed rails are available in a range of different lengths and heights.

Safetots wooden bed rails are a standard height of 38cm from the base to the top, and are considered suitable for most beds including cots, single beds, and double beds.

Safetots has a wide range of mesh bed rails for kids in a variety of colours from well-known manufacturers, including our own range of Safetots bed guard rails . Child specific bedrails are recommended up to age 5 as they are designed and tested to support a certain maximum weight. Your child is likely to have learnt the art of sleeping away from the edge by this age, but also may be capable of undoing any bedrail fixing and becoming heavier than the tested weight, thereby creating a potential hazard greater than falling onto the floor. Important Information Children’s bedguards are designed and tested for domestic use only, being suitable for children aged between 18 months and 5 years. They are not designed for use with the elderly or infirm adults. The type of mattress and bedframe the bedrail will be attached to is as important as the bedrail itself from a safety perspective. Any gap between the rail and attaching surface could become an entrapment hazard. For this reason, select a quality mattress for your child which does not easily compress at the edges when a child equivalent weight is applied.
