And on the other hand, the philosophy of somebody like Calvin, from much earlier, who thought that we're all predestined to be either saved or not saved or live or not live. Walking through a cemetery one day, they encountered a woman crying at the foot of her young son’s grave and struck up a conversation. Michael Rosen is a man of words , poetry, language …as someone who has worked in primary education for 35 years he is also a bit of a legend …but he is also a man of wisdom and compassion and this autobiographical book about life and living shows this .

Michael Rosen is one of the UK's national treasures, a prolific children's author, former Children's Laureate, a man who came to wider prominence when he was hospitalised and spent 40 days in an induced coma at the beginning of the Covid pandemic. Well, I probably “realised” the moment the first person told me, the only problem is, the next day, I would have forgotten. She eventually lands in the care of foster carer Louise, who is determined to change her life for the better. His chapter on writing, towards the end of the book, gave insight into his approach to writing - something to tuck away and refer to later. His book Getting Better was the first time he’d written about the death of his son in an extended way, he says.

From grief to trauma to writing, I learnt so much about how we can view the positive in the every day and how we shouldn’t take our lives so seriously as they can be taken from us in the blink of a moment. When I ask Rosen if he would have written this book had he not almost lost his life to Covid, he says, “Probably not.His relationships and hobbies, and recovering from COVID, re-learning to do the most basic of things, such as walking, for the third time. Lawrence (Author), , Andy Hockley, Benedict Sandiford, Cathy Sara, Clare Holman, David Bradley, Douglas Hodge, Elizabeth Estensen, Ian Hogg, Leo Mckern, Matthew Parris, Michael J. It was interesting to hear about his life, ramblings, health, work, and his own development over time.

But to keep ourselves on our toes, we have a rule that author gender is alternated, girl-boy-girl-boy, and the continents always rotated (with occasional glitches). He is suitably tentative about this, recognising that what might work for him might not work for others.Recently, I have been reading his posts on Facebook, including some very witty posts about former Prime Minster, Boris Johnson. The British poet, author and performer has written more than 200 books, including Sad Book, which chronicles Rosen's grief over the loss of his son Eddie, and children's classic We're Going on a Bear Hunt. I also found the reflections on the impact on one’s life of surviving Covid both interesting and instructive.

He also offers tools to help anyone else looking to 'get better', and advocates using writing to make sense of and explore what has happened to you. You can hear Rosen's voice in every sentence - sometimes seemingly pithy, short, jokey, clever, punning.

In attempt to discover why, Haruki Murakmi talks to the people who lived through the catastrophe, and in so doing lays bare the Japanese psyche. With rare exceptions such as bank holidays, the book group meets on the first Wednesday of every month at 7. When a local developer is found dead with a mysterious photograph left next to the body, the Thursday Murder Club suddenly find themselves in the middle of their first live case.
