About this deal

Most Pokémon card collectors are familiar with the words shadowless and 1st edition, and when they see a Charizard with one or the other, they know it’s valuable. This will spread more and more across other collectible Pokémon cards, increasing their value.

But if you take a long-term view on Pokemon card investing like I do, it’s not the end of the world. From 2002 till now, out of the 2,108 Charizard reverse foil cards that collectors have found and sent for grading, only 81 received the highest grade of PSA gem mint. Considering how visually appealing these cards are, this is a surprisingly low number. Although there’s little documentation of when rarity symbols were introduced to the Japanese Base Set, it wasn’t particularly long after ‘no rarity cards’ were released. As such, they’re incredibly rare and valuable. Combine that scarcity with our main man Charizard, and only 6 PSA 10’s in existence, it’s no wonder this is one of the most expensive Charizard’s one could ever wish to acquire. 1996 Japanese No Rarity Symbol Charizard PSA Population Report Holding steady at number 4 on this list is the 2006 EX Dragon Frontiers Charizard Gold Star holo #100. This is the first set where the Pokémon are shown coming out of the character box, appearing to pop off the card. Another unique feature of this is that all Pokémon were basic Pokémon and had already evolved. Many fans fondly remember the original Base Set art of young Charmander evolving into Charmeleon and finally mighty Charizard. This journey captured the spirit of family, growth, and pursuing your full potential. Staff cards look identical to the promo Charizard cards except for the gold Staff stamp on the bottom left of the holographic box.

It’s important to note that not all stores received the coveted Charizard cards; some were fortunate to acquire Gyarados, Machamp, or Mewtwo cards instead. Consequently, these Staff cards hold a relatively high level of rarity and are considered prized collectibles. Topsun cards were printed in 1997 since Pokémon didn’t exist until 1996. These were the first Pokémon cards ever printed, which should make them the most valuable, right? Population ReportsWhether you’re a serious collector or simply looking for a valuable piece of Pokémon history, the 1999 1st edition shadowless holo Charizard is an exceptional choice. Even if you’re on a budget, the prices for mint 9 versions have increased along with virtually every other grade. So, don’t hesitate; if you’ve been considering adding this iconic card to your collection, now might be the perfect time to make your move. The 1999 1st Edition Shadowless holographic Charizard #4 is often regarded as the Holy Grail of Pokémon cards. In PSA gem mint condition, it holds a special place in the hearts of Pokémon enthusiasts and collectors alike. Because of its popularity, there’s a decent number of PSA 10s out there, but still, there are 3x as many PSA 9s.

Four Pokémon staff prelease cards were given out, including Mewtwo, Blastoise, Machamp, and Charizard. Stores were given just one of the four, with Charizard being the most valuable. Population Report Charizard V/VSTAR - Too bad that the energy cost is yet too expensive, even the stadium won't help it. But still, it's a Charizard and a super rare card might be the most expensive. 3/3-4 R][R][C] Burn to Nothing: 90 damage. Before doing damage, discard any Pokemon Tools attached to your opponent’s Active Pokemon. Charizard has a special place in the hearts of collectors. Whether you were trying to complete the video games, show off your card collection to your friends, or routing for Ash to become the world’s greatest Pokemon master on TV, you knew that with a Charizard it was possible. To this day, this fire-breathing dragon is a symbol of strength, power and prestige and people will happily pay to acquire him. This is why Charizard Pokémon cards are so expensive and sought-after. Are Charizard’s worth collecting? The 1996 Japanese base set was always considered to have only one print run until recently. These newly discovered (no rarity) cards are the first print run of the Japanese base set, the first Pokemon cards ever printed.

Charizard V Star‘s Competitive Value Fuels Demand

As you can see, Charizard V Star‘s pull rate of just 0.2% makes it over 10X rarer than your average Brilliant Stars Ultra Rare! Even crazier, its pull rate is estimated to be less than half that of the also-valuable Alternate Art Charizard V. High Graded Charizard V Stars Fetch Massive Auction Sales Choose 1 of your [C] Pokemon with any damage counters on it. Put that Pokemon and all the attached cards to it into your hand. The Team Up Staff prerelease cards share a striking resemblance with the regular prerelease promos, save for one distinct feature—the gleaming gold Staff stamp adorning the lower left corner of the holographic frame. PSA Grading Statistics Stay updated and keep learning. The value and demand for Charizard cards, like any collectible, can fluctuate. But one thing remains – the nostalgic charm and the allure of owning a piece of Pokémon history. PSA has graded 1,002 of the Charizard Prism cards with 87 grading gem mint 10. That is just .08% of the total cards graded, which proves how challenging these cards are to find in gem mint or near-perfect condition.

The third most expensive Charizard Pokémon card is the base set shadowless. This set was printed shortly after the 1st edition with slightly more print runs. The availability is still scarce compared to the unlimited set but not as rare as the 1st edition. Card Details The PSA population report plays a pivotal role in assessing its value. Out of the 4,216 1st Edition Holo Charizard cards, only 124 have achieved the coveted PSA gem mint 10 grade. This rarity factor sets it apart, with less than a 0.03% chance of obtaining a PSA 10 grade. This scarcity is unparalleled in comparison to other sets. Investment Potential When it comes to Pokemon cards, my motto is ‘collect what you love’. If you’re not a big fan of the character (or the price tags), then I’d recommend against going down this path. If however, you like the character, enjoy the artworks and potentially want something as an investment piece too, then collecting Charizard cards is worth it. Just remember though, card rarity and condition is very important in terms of value. Get clued up before investing heavily. How can you tell if a Charizard card is rare? Charizard V Star pays homage to that nostalgic artwork by depicting Charmander cheerfully riding on its final evolution‘s shoulder. This bond across generations adds symbolic meaning on top of the stunning rainbow foil. The Pokémon trading card game’s Legendary Collection expansion introduced some fresh concepts to enthusiasts. Among its standout features was the Reverse Holofoil print. On the base set shadowless, you’ll notice the 1st edition logo is gone. It doesn’t seem like much of a difference to the beginner, but for the die-hard collector, it’s a different card. Furthermore, having no shadow on any Pokémon card makes it more collectible than with shadow. Investment Potential
