The main blade is also stainless, and sharpened to a razor edge, making quick work of cutting anything from packaging and envelopes, tape, or opening food packaging. This makes the lines of the knife cleaner, but does mean you miss out on a corkscrew attachment, which is arguably a bit of a blow. Can't add much to the published spec or to what is already known about Victorinox fit and finish or that, of course, it is sharp out of the box.

If your bag is the wild then consider the Farmer X with the same tool set as the pioneer but with the addition a wood saw.There are no such worries here, the tin opener opens tins surprisingly well, albeit slowly, the two screwdrivers will drive any screw that they fit, and the spike makes holes and enlarges them perfectly. Positioned at the end of the tool, this enables the user to impart a considerable amount of torque in use.

The scissors are identical to the 91mm scissors except that the nail nick has been moved to the outside of the scissors. This tool also has a wire bender/stripper but I have almost never used this function on any knife I own. In terms of quality the knife is very good as one expects from the king of the pocket knife makers but , the mould for the alox scales is showing it's age now as when you view them from the edges the edge line is all wavy and uneven , the finish is also a bit rough where the oxidized coating has flaked off , a shame as the alox scales are otherwise very smart ! Overall, the Pioneer X is a very capable and well-thought out tool that is very handy and excellent.Their titanium Siphon has its faults, but these are mostly balanced out by simplicity, small size, light weight, robustness and performance.
