About this deal

Yesterday a parent came over to tell me how impressed she was by the book fair and that you did a fabulous job of selling the books to the children first. Uncle Nat is taking Hal on the train from Sweden to the Aurora Sky Station, Abisko, Finland to see the Northern Lights. Hal meets Morti and finds out about a bit of a mystery surrounding her former husband who had been arrested two years before by secret service police and she'd destroyed all of his work. This particular train sounds just right because whilst I don't like the cold the idea of a Christmas market somewhere snowy and the Northern Lights as well would sell it to me. I love the fact that at the end of the book the authors take the time to explain which elements of their story are truth and which are fiction.

Bookwagon loves the twists, turns, clever counter foils, deft characterisations and convincing, pacy plot. This seems so much more fast paced than the previous books in the serious, perhaps because Hal is once again involved in a bit of detective work on board a train, but this time his Mum has had a premonition and it looks like it might come true. This time it is not one but 2 deadly assassins and they are caight in the crossfire on the train to the Arctic to see the northern lights. It’s a fantastic independent book seller that will actually be responsive and select appropriate books for you. Join Hal and Uncle Nat on more stops in this thrilling series with: Murder on the Safari Star, Danger at Dead Man's Pass and Sabotage on the Solar Express. Then again, it’s not the threats made to Morti’s life that lead her to withdraw from travelling to see the Aurora Borealis. She spent her early career in the music industry running Setanta Records, an independent record label, and managing bands, most notably The Divine Comedy.

Before writing stories for children, he worked as a playwright, journalist, and digital producer, and founded a company making murder mystery treasure hunts for adventurous Londoners.Whilst waiting for the Narvik train he draws an orchestral group, one of the players sees and introduces herself. Harrison and his Uncle Nat go on a train holiday together, in this case to see the Northern Lights, and they end up embroiled in a mystery involving the train passengers that’s to be solved.

The characters on the train are all interesting and well worth being the focus of Hal's artistic skills. Whilst reading, the book was so quick paced and raring to go, I felt I had to read quick to keep up. The Arctic Railway Assassin can be read as a stand-alone novel, or enjoyed as part of the award-winning Adventures on Trains series written by M.Thank you Macmillan Publishers and Netgalley for letting me read this early in exchange for a review! I love the adventures on trains series and this book is as exciting and fact filled as all the others. I was lucky enough to see a story that Sam Sedgman put up saying that the book was on Netgalley and even luckier to be accepted by Macmillan publishing to read early so I can review! This time the mystery involves an assassin, a weapon of unimaginable power, and a threat to the life of Harrison and and his Uncle Nat.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. This series has been bubbling along for what feels like a long time, but it is just the relentlessly consistent high expectations that have driven it to the front of so many reading lists. However these novels are the first books, other than the Frostheart and The Familiars series, that he has been absolutely obsessed with and looking forward to reading them whenever he has the time.
