This book did it's job in relaying the younger years of the infamous Hannibal Lecter, but it never really went beyond that. In contrast with Lecter's fascinating pseudo-romance with Clarice Starling, the pseudo-romance between Lecter and Murasaki is just. At times Harris seemed too impersonal and dry with his writing style, while other times it flowed well and I wondered why I questioned his style before.The first adaptation was the 1986 film Manhunter, which was an adaptation of Red Dragon, directed by Michael Mann. Remember, the journey through a book series is not just about reaching the end but also about the memories created along the way. Clarice is urged to collaborate with an imprisoned Hannibal to gain psychological insight into the motives of a serial killer that is on the loose.
