About this deal

A relatively cheap HF drill without the split point or benefit of the 750X cut right into the steel. Make your work faster and easier while saving yourself money sharpening your dull and broken drill bits with the Drill Doctor 750X 3/32- to 3/4-Inch Drill Bit Sharpener. Both of these additions cost peanuts in manufacturing costs and I could have modified one to do this anyway. Split point don't seem that bad on mine, and I routinely split most every bit from 1/2 on down to about 1/4 or more.

Also, I have a lot of drills handed down to me by my father, and it would be nice to put those old bits back in service. So I waited patiently for more than a year for a Drill Doctor in very good or better condition to show up on Craigslist. Our huge selection allows you to complete your metalworking projects, or care for your tools, with the methods that best suit you. increments that I need to remain accurate- I wouldnt trust myself to do these on a bench grinder, not that I even have one. As you sharpen, long jaws hold the bit precisely in place, and jaw guides eliminate jaw twisting on small bits.Like the endmill thing, I don't bother sharpening small bits unless it is a matter of life and death.

Put a contrasting color mark on the outer edge of the alignment fin on the chuck so you can easily see if it is mis-indexed in the alignment port. We are proud to be one of the first companies in the industry to begin importing and manufacturing machines for the market back in the late 70’s. I have had it for about 25 years and recently managed to get replacement sharpening stones so I can use it again. Got all those and all my others done, pretty much every drill I owned was done, and I was getting pretty darned good by the end of it if I do say so myself.Larger than that it starts being a bit of a problem requiring exponentially more turns (slower feed) as you go up in size. Trying it out on a random piece of CRS, it cut cleanly and quickly without even center drilling first.

points didn't really stick the first time and the biggest problem was my seemingly minor oversights having more impact that you (or at least I) would expect. Adjustable material take-off: Allows user to change the amount of material removed during sharpening to further extend the life of your bits.

I don’t know about their cost, but it looks like replacements are available if you should need them. Yes, it's a lot of fiddling to get small bits lined up, but I spent one evening and probably sharpened 200+ drills, and they definietely work better than they did. I suppose they will change the user manual but not what it says on the outside of the box or their advertising. The tool relies on a permanent-magnet motor that produces consistent power, regardless of speed or load.I'm torn between 4 and 5 stars on the rating because the bits I sharpened weren't quite as good at drilling as factory sharpened bits, but I think with some practice and learning the tool's quirks my sharpening will probably improve.
