About this deal

The higher impedance versions are suggested not because they perform any differently than the lower impedance versions, they are suggested because it's more likely that your other equipment will perform better with higher-impedance loads. Soundstage - IMO the stgae is not overly large for an open can - and is probably deeper than it is wide. You might not be interested on putting down so much money for a pair of headphones, but the difference is obvious. There is a real crispness to the sound and a wonderful clarity to the detail that really brought music to life for me. Soundstage: The DT880’s soundstage is airy, spacious, but not fully circular or 3D soundstage, but more of a 2D like with left and right separation.

The beyerdynamic DT 880 comes in at least three different versions with different impedances: 32Ω, 250Ω, and 600Ω. Bass prior to break-in is slightly more sterile, and eventually it becomes more more in body, Mids will sound more open, airy.Bass-Lovely tone, great solidity and impact on the Double Bass notes, and the placement is slightly behind the Trumpet and adjacent to the piano, again the imaging is excellent. Bass is the thing I think is most disagreed upon with headphones, since it seems to be what most people out there notice immediately (Show a good headphone to a friend and they’ll almost certainly comment about it). Bass- DEEP and TIGHT, I do recommend you eq a little sub bass into the Dt 880 to enjoy Dub Step, as it helps bring a little more aggression and fun into the bass. Another downside I observe here is, wiring for opposite driver is embedded on upper end of headband, like an overhead cabling. The Beyers were most comfortable to me, in fact, they were some of the most comfortable headphones i've ever tried on.

The DT 880 Edition (in the 250-Ohm version) and the DT 880 Black Special Edition are identical in sound. I don't like the appearance or feel of the sharp metal clip on the adjustment portion of the Premium version.I suspect Beyerdynamic uses a higher thread count on the velour for the 880/990 pads than the 770 ones. My one regret with the DT880 is that the mids are not a little more to the front of the spectrum, and I would love to see them a little warmer. The next headphone I'll be giving a shot will be either the HD650 or 600 in an attempt on really finding my end-game headphone for home use. Unless you plan to go portable with this headphone, in which case there are much better options for that purpose. Padding is great, even with the firm clamping force out of box, the ear pads did a great job of eliminating pressure.
