About this deal

The was an emphasis on the importance of family and different types of love were explored, not just the typical romantic love. It still sticks to the alternating narrative, with more characters taking it in turns to show their perspective. There were ten seats at Dan’s dinner party the night he was killed and each guest had their own reasons for wishing him dead.

I'm so glad they did because they were such a lovely couple in Double Cross and it's obvious they were meant to be together. good stuff even if Blackman didn't totally hit the nail on the head for the type of emotive writing which would truly gut me. All of our books are 100% brand new, unread and purchased directly from the publishers in bulk allowing us to pass the huge savings on to you! When I finished it and certain sad events had played out, I found myself instead of crying, which normally happens, feeling empty and hollow.

At the same time, the plot was never confusing – I always understood as much as Malorie Blackman wanted me as a reader to understand at every point in the book. I hoped that this final book, Endgame, would clear everything up and bring back the feeling of the previous books, and thankfully, it did.

Her work has appeared on screen, with Pig-Heart Boy, which was shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal, being adapted into a BAFTA-award-winning TV serial. Throughout, I really didn’t want anything bad at all to happen to any of the characters, but I knew that this was highly unlikely, making Endgame even more heart-wrenching!None of these plots felt evenly developed nor did the characters’ reactions to them come across as genuine. Or the Noughts who fought and died in the great war only to see their contribution deliberately ignored? This story skillfully and sensitively manages the emotional debate over the pro's and con's of babies and abortions, not always predictable, and very relatable. Mel's religious parents insist she must keep the baby, whilst Sid's feminist mum pushes for a termination.

Well, this excellent series is finally brought to a close in an entertaining and quite gripping conclusion. Malorie Blackman's iconic and groundbreaking Noughts and Crosses is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2021 – and with it comes Endgame, the electrifying final book in the series. When their relationship starts to fall apart under all the pressure, Mel finds herself feeling alone with the impossible dilemma of the Little Bang growing inside her. These narrators tie all the books together and even a short story, but again this felt very rushed for a finale. It also has some ‘then’ and ‘now’ sections towards the beginning, to give the reader some background information on the situation taking place.

Noughts and Crosses has opened my eyes to so many issues, and I hope that everyone else who has read this series feels the same way. Originally written, in part, to highlight issues of race and racism within society by inverting the hierarchical structure, this final part of the Noughts and Crosses series continues to shine a light on issues of inequality and prejudice. Though quite different in matter compared to Noughts and Crosses, the main principle is still there and the writing is as good as ever. She has been described by The Times as ‘a national treasure’ and was the Children’s Laureate 2013-15. Marriage is seen as some sort of solution to all problems, and an end point of individual storylines.
