This sublime book is responsible for filling my heart with a serenity that only the distinctive characters in 'Before the Coffee Gets Cold' can. Huh, well, I asked Kazu about it and she told me that this is Donna Donna and that it's in a different place in Tokyo from Funiculi Funicula.

In simple yet elegant prose, with elements of fantasy and magical realism and an interesting cast of characters, the author touches upon themes of love, loss, grief and moving on. I appear to be in a small number of people who didn't like this one so try it yourself if you have read the others and see how you get on. That and the number of people introduced in the cafe (now with a much needed prompt list at the front) made me find it more difficult to focus on the time travel stories. Endearing reading and a fabulous characters that make us dream of the possibility of time travelling.Also, I just want to add that bone marrow transplants don’t require surgery – it’s like having a drip hooked up and is incredibly uneventful and lacking in drama. Even though the time travel premise is the same in every “chapter”, each story feels fresh and unique while still moving the overall storyline of the main characters forward.

It is a beautiful book, and an even more beautiful series, which I thoroughly enjoyed and I am sad I have to let it go, at least for now. There is also another theme running through the book – a question book about what you would do if the world was ending tomorrow. I'm glad I met new people in here and hope to learn more about them in the next book, can't wait for yet another installment coming up!We catch with the regular characters some time after the last book, so it’s nice to find out what’s been happening. Light and delightful ways of writing despite how the author still having that same writing habit like before; to repetitively info dumping stuff he already mentioned in each story. Lastly, time travel fiction is always so fascinating - the element of it here is by far my favourite.I was pleased that the book opened with a relationship map of characters as it proved a handy reference especially given the introduction of new characters working at Donna Donna. Poignant stories of missed conversations and lost opportunities are given the chance to be put to rights for different protagonists with different outcomes. un'antologia di storie gradevoli, ma tutto sommato non era necessario dopo aver letto i primi due libri della trilogia.
