we couldn’t be more proud that our Rhyme and Sign Adventures have become ‘ my baby’s favourite book’ in so many households. What You'll 🤟 Step-by-Step Seamlessly progress through chapters, starting with foundational skills and gradually advancing to complex expressions and sentence structures. A few months ago, you may remember, I wrote about how you can support children learning British Sign Language (BSL). I literally don’t have the vocabulary for how emotional it makes me to know parents of signing children can have access to this – and wow, you’ve done it so, so well.

Well loved stories, in conjunction with signing, provide young children with the experience of being deeply cared about, snuggled on a special lap with a favourite book. Linguistics is taught at earlier stages in BSL learning as it is essential for developing receptive skills. Rhyme and Sign Adventures stand alone as beautiful stories that everyone will love and you’ll get a deep enjoyment from them whether you sign or not.Cultural Immerse yourself in Deaf culture and history, gaining insights that foster appreciation and respect for this vibrant community. This book was originally put together in 2015 by Janice, with the assistance of Emma Gilbert, for the former BSL Level 3-320 unit. By teaching simple sign language to children from as young as eight months, we can help them to convey their emotions and their needs. This is our earliest journey into literacy and language; the undivided attention of story time, with a favourite book, confirms to our little ones that they matter. Join countless individuals who have embraced the beauty of sign language and become part of a global community that values communication beyond words.

Clear illustrations and images vividly depict each sign and gesture, making learning BSL both enjoyable and effective. Some studies put children, who have learned to use signing alongside speech, as 12 IQ points ahead of their peers. And for slightly older children, for whom English is an Additional Language, or who have Special Educational Needs, they provide a great language bridge. We know that all children simply adore these books and love to join in regardless of age or ability. We originally developed these books to support our baby signing classes which mean that they were aimed, really, at little ones between the ages of 18 months and 4 years. Detailed explanations, vivid illustrations, and practical examples ensure you grasp each concept with ease. Children who have the advantage of clear communication opportunities, where the guesswork of what they want or need simply disappears, are more independent and far less stressed. Cultural Gain a deeper understanding of the Deaf community's language, history, and values, ensuring your interactions are not only accurate but also culturally sensitive.
