The story line was a typical romance novel mixed with adult romance erotica and then the average adult drama problems with insecurities of mixing nobodies with big time athletes. But then I start letting my guard down, and he starts showing me pieces of himself I had no intention of seeing. I suspect this very inaccessibility and exclusivity is part of what makes hockey appealing to so many romance authors, in the same way the billionaire heroes appeal.

However if it was an anthology of short stories or novellas and the author(s) were good, I would read them.An archery romance might be cool but I have zero interest in a novel-length romance focused on long-distance swimming (and swimming was my favorite sport when I was a kid! I listened to about 4 hours of this book, which, I think, is a fair amount to get a good read on the contents and characters.

It's not even what I would consider the Misunderstanding trope; there's kind of a misunderstanding but it's more like an outside event causes the misunderstanding, and it's resolved super fast.i really didn't expect to love this book as much as i did since i'm such a rating snob and this book only has a 4. The first part of the book is him chasing her, her rebuffing him, them being thrown together by friends who, for reasons, suddenly think it’s a great idea they get together and him realising just who she is to him.
