About this deal

The CrossWave Max is super easy to master as long as you can get a handle on the concept of pulling a trigger while you push and releasing it when you pull. The floorhead release hinge unlocks with very little effort, making it hard to roll the vacuum around when it's positioned completely upright. I’ve even given some hard floor steam cleaners a whirl which you can read about in T3’s guide to the Best Steam Cleaners. It's worth us noting that this machine has to be sat on the dock to charge, and you'll want to place it on there when self-cleaning, too. There are two cleaning tanks on the BISSELL CrossWave, one is used for the clean water and solution (you fill the water up with hot water to a certain line and then the solution to a second line).

This isn’t the first product to do both of these jobs, but this is the first hard floor cleaner that I’ve reviewed that can tackle rugs, too. Check out the gallery photos above (use the arrow on the right to scroll through) if you don't believe us! Though it's worth us noting that the rug was left a little damp, so it will need to be left to dry for a few hours. Whatever you're looking for - whether it's a fantastic 8K TV or a sleek American fridge freezer - you can find it here at Marks Electrical. Here, it picked up everything without dropping any grains back onto the floor, showing that this cleaner can easily cope with bigger debris. It's more effective than the Dyson in sucking up debris on bare floors and has a longer battery life, not to mention a much bigger dustbin. Admittedly (and expectedly) this multi-surface tool isn't as easy to manoeuvre as a stick vacuum is – or even an upright vacuum. Not just that but you can see how much hay (this rug is in my rabbit's room) it picked up, too, as well as how well it generally cleans the rug – the white stripes look SO much cleaner.

First, I started by spreading a teaspoon of flour onto the kitchen floor, right up against the skirting board.I opted for the gentle wooden floor setting and pushed and pulled it back and forth but, alas, the wooly roller remained dry. Inside the system is a float: when the tank is full of water, it the float rises and shuts the cleaner from sucking up any more water.

The CrossWave Cordless Max also has improved edge cleaning** to tackle messes like pet hair and dust along baseboards and corners. Going from hard floors to carpeted areas or rugs is quite easy, though depending on the difference in the thickness you may have to lift the machine. It uses a less powerful suction motor than the corded BISSELL CrossWave Pet Pro and is likely to have more trouble drawing out debris wedged deep within cracks and crevices. The CrossWave ensures you get a constantly high performance throughout your entire cleaning process whilst letting you enjoy the freedom of being cordless. Its multi-surface cleaning capabilities let you easily switch from cleaning sealed hard floors to refreshing area rugs and tackling messes, whatever they may be – wet or dry.Simply fill the top container to the fresh water line of choice and pour in the provided Bissell cleaning solution up to the second line, about one centimetre above (Bissell provides a litre of the stuff which should last ages). Impressive cleaning and vacuuming performance, the thicker roller will see you quickly cover floors. It easily clears away small and bulky debris like rice and cereal, with no significant loss in suction performance as its dustbin fills up.

Bissell has put very simple controls on the front and there are dedicated buttons for hard floor and area rug cleaning modes; these adjust how much cleaning solution is released, with more for the area rug setting. It does a fantastic job of dealing with pet hair on bare floors, but you might need to make an extra pass to collect all of it on low-pile carpeting.

Vacuum, mop and dry hard floors and area rugs at the same time, for quicker cleaning of various wet and dry messes, liquid spills and larger dry debris like cereal. The BISSELL CrossWave Cordless Max and BISSELL CrossWave Pet Pro each have distinct advantages, meaning one might suit you better than the other, depending on your needs. Thanks to the 36V Li-Ion battery and about 30 minutes of cordless cleaning power, you can clean your home without being tied to an outlet or getting tangled in the cord. A blessing for some as this holds all of the tools in one place, however, since this docking station is the charger for this tool, it needs to be placed near a plug socket. When it comes to hard floor performance evaluation, I’d like to think I have a good test bed for a device of this nature.
