Born on the 'wrong side of the canal' in Tarelexo, in the Kingdom of Luce, Fallon Rossi has been seen as a magicless half-breed, a serpent charmer, and a tavern whore, despite being a virgin. I glance from my grandfather to the commander, whose posture is as taut as a bow string and yet whose face ripples with nerves. while i found the MC to be a bit annoying at the beginning, i do think she goes through a decent enough development that she began to grow on me.

Fallon was a magicless halfling who was given a prophecy, free the crows and they will make you queen. If gathering a slew of iron relics could help me overthrow the current monarch and crown his brother to rule at my side, then treasure hunting I'd go. I stumbled upon this book and Olivia as an author and I am so glad I did, a book hasn't captured my attention in a while until I read this. I loved Fallon too, she's strong, feisty, not afraid to stand up and speak, even when its probably best not to, but that's her all over. Right off the bat, I immediately recognized the difference between the writing style in this book and in the author’s other works (the last book I read by her being Starlight).I loved Fallon’s relationships and banter with her friends and her connections to the beasts in the story. She gives as much thought into becoming queen as I do when someone offers me a flyer on the street; I mindlessly take it and just keep walking.

It only just now started to start (which with how bored I already am is just too late in the book for me) The people she surrounds herself with, for the most part, either have an attitude toward her or are just plain mean or boring.This is a strange one because while there isn't anything I overtly disliked, reading this felt like work.
