About this deal

Studying the language is relatively easy when compared with other languages, in particular for the students. There are lots of exercises to help drill in the lessons and the cd is helpful for grasping the pronunciations. Toward this end, it has been written to be slightly more advanced, and faster-paced, than the main text while also dealing with topics a little outside those already found in the Target Dialogues and Speaking Practice sections.

Each chapter introduces target grammar and vocab gradually, so it's never dumped on you all at once. Practice conversations, listening, rudimentary comprehension, and grammar and vocabulary usage on each topic. As long as you get the Kana Version of this textbook (there is an all-romaji version), you'll learn some valuable things. But if you actually want to get to know the language in an enjoyable way, there are better beginner options. The CD is clear, at a good speed and has the Target Dialogue, Short Dialogue, and Word Power sections on it. I have Japanese for Dummies and it seems to cover a lot of material but it feels very scattered and therefore hard for me to maintain focus when reading it. This Workbook for Volume 2 (intended for both kana and romanised editions) includes exercise conversations from the textbook, short dialogues, target dialogues, and additional materials, many of which are accompanied by illustrations.

The thirty lessons are composed of dialogues, notes on grammar, and vocabulary, exercises and quizzes. I’ve been on a Japanese study journey for a while now but since I’ve taken up extra work at my job, I’ve been slacking. I'd rather take the (long) time to build solid foundations than start どうもうありがとうございますing in a thick accent and not being able to understand the reply. Many of these exercises are illustrated, making for a stimulating learning experience, and the purpose of each one is clearly stated. On the other hand, the Japanese accent is comparatively difficult compared to other languages but simpler than the language. It ended up pretty useful, since I was able to communicate quite a lot with Japanese people, after having read the manual for a couple of weeks (Japanese is an easy language at start to speak, but very hard at speaking well, from what I've seen so far). Through repeated oral and listening practice, learners will come to acquire the rhythm of real life Japanese conversation. A fully integrated three-level series with related supplementary materials, which is suitable for both self-study and classroom use, forms a comprehensive course in basic Japanese. At each level, enough vocabulary and grammar has been provided to enable the learner to easily communicate in uncomplicated adult Japanese. This companion workbook to Beginning Japanese is the perfect guide for practicing basic conversational Japanese and written Japanese.

Tell us why you liked or disliked the book; using examples and comparisons is a great way to do this. In addition, the book features notes on Japanese culture intended to expand the learner’s understanding of Japan, its customs and people. Useful for my purposes which was having dialogues and passages to read at my level without the romaji directly next to the kana.Students will gradually get acquainted with the Japanese society, while studying the vocabulary and syntax required for more advanced levels.

Also, one of JFBP 1's strengths is how well it ingrains reading and writing in hiragana and katakana. This first of three volumes introduces “survival Japanese”—the absolute minimum amount of Japanese needed to live in Japan. The conjugation rules are relaxed and aren’t bound to some exceptions of verbs as well as adjectives. In Book I, the revisions are directed at making the grammatical explanations easier to understand, while adding further explanations of points that students have difficulty with. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. If I was to start again I'd probably go with Genki I and II along with the techniques described here: http://japaneselevelup. The companion volume, Japanese for Busy People 1: The Workbook for the Revised 3rd Edition contains a variety of illustrated exercises for mastering the basic sentence patterns presented in the main text. They are nearly all information gap, which can be boring, but they really do help familiarize the learner with Japanese sentence structure.
