The minor arcana pip cards are stylized but non-scenic, while the suits retain their traditional designations, with the exception of Pentacles — which has been changed to, unsurprisingly, Rings. I must admit that even though reading for people familiar with the Tolkien universe works like a charm, non-Tolkien fans have a bit more difficulty identifying with the cards so I rarely use this deck reading for those people, even though the cards are much clearer for me, being a Middle-Earth fan myself, thus giving very clear readings. In the card game rules, the four symbols in the upper right-hand corner of each card (Free Peoples, Dark Forces, Neutral, and One Ring) have considerable significance.
