Description

Jack is stuck in the wheel, and spins round and round while Norrington and Will duke it out, oblivious to the pirate's presence. There aren't many special parts that you can't find in the other PotC sets, but they all serve a purpose for this set one way or another.

As for the set, it looks good with all the playable features incorporated in it, but it just doesn't visually appeal to me unlike the other sets. However I think the level of detail the figures have make up for it slightly, as they are just gorgeous. One side of the mill is a bell tower, which has a zip line -- a minifig can grab the handle of one end of a rope, and the other end is tied to a bell weight, which can drop, pulling the minifig upwards. You have to fold up the wheel around the central piece and slot the poles into the holes in the round part. Like I said in the London Escape review, I don't think this face is quite right for Johnny Depp's character, and needs to be more comical looking.

With the reviews of the On Stranger Tides sets some of the play features are not clear as to what they are for or why they appear, at least until we get to see the films. Overall I find this one of the weakest in the PoTC line, but the figs and the parts selection still make it a fairly good set. This set, based on a scene from a Pirates of the Caribbean movie, is fun to build, has great play features, and is good value for the money. Not as good as London Escape, but still one of the stronger sets in the line because of the playability factor. Please keep in mind that I did not use stickers on my set, so what you see here may differ from what the box shows.

For my second and final Pirates of the Caribbean review, I'll be taking a closer look at 4183: The Mill. It'll be on out blog in the next day, with so many reviews, we actually are all booked up for a while. I was very skeptical about the interior and the patchiness of the building when I saw the first pictures of it. I have noticed, though, that the only sets that come with the card are the sets related to POTC: On Stranger Tides. You get two copies of the key, and they are attached to a sprue like the Atlantis flippers or the gold coins are.

It is great to see one of Davy Jones' henchmen, would love to see more in future waves as I thought they were all visually very interesting. This set traveled to Vegas for a Christmas gift and I received a wonderful note thanking me for the gift.Even if you haven't seen Dead Man's Chest, the second installment in the PotC series, you've probably heard of the epic scene on which this set is based off of. I certainly had a lot of fun posing the figures and recreating the fight scene from the film whilst taking the pictures for the review. Finally, here's a comparison shot with the two versions of the Sparrow minifig (Cannibal Jack not shown), as well as Qui-Gon Jinn and Will Turner with their heads switched. I've built four of the new Pirates of the Caribbean sets, and it seems to me that that only the sets from On Stranger Tides include trading cards.
