Somehow the menu came back up and I pressed this one button and set payload from small to large, then it seemed to start working again. Featuring a more easy-to-use quick setup system and smart lock design, as well as six creative operation modes, Crane M2 easily goes wherever you go and offers endless possibilities to your everyday creation. Over a wired connection, the gimbal is able to power a supported camera and control its zoom, shutter, and video start/stop functions. I'll probably smash it anyway but I might try it out again and see how long this piece of junk lasts.

There’s less of a difference between footage stabilised on the Crane-M2 and the electronic image stabilisation (EIS) you get on a decent action camera. In any mode, you can triple-tap the trigger button to swivel the gimbal 180-degrees and pop it into vlogging (selfie) mode. The Zhiyun Crane-M2 is designed for point-and-shoot cameras, action cameras, smartphones and very small mirrorless camera setups.
It isn’t too big or heavy, it’s comfortable to hold, even with a heavy camera mounted, and all the controls – a joystick for controlling camera movement, plus trigger, record and mode buttons – are sensibly positioned so they’re easily reached with your thumb or forefinger. All this is packed into a high-density foam carry case that protects the gimbal and its accessories from damage during transport. This is because EIS crops the image slightly and compensates for movement by using the extra pixels surrounding the crop as a buffer zone, thus reducing image quality overall. This was my first mistake, when I thought I would just learn it on the go, but looking back, I would recommend thoroughly reviewing each mode first.
