About this deal

HM65R has also found its way into many rescue teams who rely on its outstanding durability and performance. The primary power option is a single rechargeable 18650 battery (included); as a secondary option, you can also power the HM65R with two CR123A batteries. You’ll rarely need to use the brightest setting, though it is fun to show off just how many lumens this little sun has when hiking with friends. One standout feature is the headlamp’s ability to function in extreme temperatures, ranging from -31 to 113°F (-35 to 45°C).

Knowing that you can just thrown 3 AAAs in your vest instead of carrying a whole second headlamp is the best! Based on the popular HM65R, the T version is made from magnesium alloy which is 30% lighter than the aluminium body of the original model.

While it has a 1300mAh Li-polymer battery, if that drains you can also replace it with 3 AAA batteries. Even with the hefty battery life, at just 5 ounces, it’s noticeably lighter than many competitors on the market that produce headlamps with a similar amount of lumens.

The new 400 lumen spot / flood beam features a warm white LED to render colours accurately and punch through misty conditions. The Fenix HM65R headlamp has a maximum output of 1400 lumens from the dual Cree XM-L2 U2 cool white and SP-G2 R5 neutral white LEDs. I’m very impressed with the direction they are going, overall, and can’t wait to see how the develop more models in the future. It’s hugely important to me to have a headlamp that will withstand some gnarly weather, provide me with multiple lighting options for various scenarios, and of course, last a long time without the need for a charge.

They have icons, which of course can’t be seen when wearing the light, and are indistinguishable by feel. The HM65R ShadowMaster comes with a Fenix 3500mAh 18650 battery, ensuring enduring power for your ventures. Includes: headband, Fenix 18650 3400mAh Li-ion battery, USB Type-C charging cable, headband mount, spare o-ring.The Red light option is a super stealthy mode ideal for the angler fishing in the dark as the harsh white light can often spook fish where as the red option gives you a more stealthy approach whilst enabling you to see to carry out tasks by the water. The light is powered by an 18650 (included) which can be recharged inside the torch, or 2 x CR123 batteries can be used in emergency situations but please do not try to recharge these cells. I find that this headlamp does get rather hot when using the white light mode on high for more than a few minutes. And they only lasted 4-5 hours, and when they died, you didn't have the option to change the integrated battery.

It doesn’t make a massive difference, but it is worth mentioning so you don’t think your headlamp is malfunctioning. HM65R ShadowMaster headlamp has been developed jointly with Fenix as an elite Fishing Headlamp, Hunting Headlamp and Military Headlamp.

The weight is reasonable at less than 100g, although this does jump to about 145g once the excellent 3500mAh 18650 battery is in place. For extra durability and resilience the HM65R ShadowMaster has the same triple proofing properties and is made from lightweight magnesium alloy, which is 32% lighter than the equivalent aluminium alloy body, and it is drop resistant to 2 metres distance as well as being waterproof to IP68 standard. It’s comfortable and stable, the headband with the top strap works well and feels secure at all times thanks to a grippy rubberised strip, and the perforated design of the strap probably adds to its breathability, making it comfortable over more extended periods.
