About this deal

iRobot has over 30 years of robotics expertise and innovation with over 30 million home robots sold worldwide. If you’re a pet owner, the front-facing camera in the j7 could help avoid unpleasant messes: it comes with obstacle avoidance that its sibling lacks.

With Clean Base® Automatic Dirt Disposal, the i7+ can empty its own bin for up to 60 days without your intervention into an AllergenLock™ bag — it’s just one more way the i7+ gets the whole job done for you. Coverage is excellent, with the robot ably moving around furniture and through the legs of some tricky dining room chairs. Roomba® i7 learns your floor plan as it cleans and remembers this map for future cleaning jobs – this enables the robot to determine the best way to clean based on the orientation of each room, furniture placement, etc. Send the robot vacuum cleaner on its first cleaning job at the touch of a button in the app - it’ll do the rest. The clean base, including the automatic dirt disposal, is somewhat larger than a conventional charging dock.

These are designed to work well on both carpet and hard floors, and shouldn’t tangle with hair as much as a regular brush roller.

Control and schedule cleanings on your Wi-Fi connected Roomba robot vacuum with the iRobot HOME App. However, while it can navigate itself around the i7+ does not feature object detection, unlike the J7, which has a camera on the front and can see objects in its path and navigate its way around them before it hits them – such as socks and cables on the floor or even dog poo. The i7 can clean specific messes for you right when they happen, so if you’re racing out the door and notice a crumbs under the kitchen table, you can use the iRobot Home App or your Google or Alexa voice assistant to tell the i7/i7+ to immediately clean that spot and consider it done. The voice assistant also asks clever and meaningful questions, such as: "Should I drive back to the charging station?Wonderfully, this means you don’t really have to think about cleaning your floors for a good few weeks at a time (depending on how often you run the robot).

Our respect for your personal space extends from the physical to the virtual by using only the highest data security standards: iRobot always uses the highest standards of data encryption, backed by our promise to keep your information safe. Once it started, the first thing that struck me was how noisy it is in operation, with a mechanical whirring sound and a spinning sweeper that combine (especially on hard flooring) to overpowering effect. This takes some time, (obviously the larger your area, the longer it takes) and it can take several cleaning runs until it built up a full picture. If you really want, then there’s also the old-fashioned battery-powered barrier in the box: set it to a line or radius mode, and plonk it where you don’t want the robot to go.

That makes the Roomba i7+ easier to handle, and its low-profile design gives it an advantage over competitors. As well as its self-emptying tech, the i7+ has brilliant mapping that’ll let you target specific pieces of furniture or parts of a room for a clean. For some these cleaners will be familiar – they’ve been around in some guise since the mid Nineties.

The 3-Stage Cleaning System of the Roomba® i7 Robot Vacuum, with Dual Multi-Surface Rubber Brushes, 10x the Power-Lifting Suction* and Edge-Sweeping Brush, teams up with the Precision Jet Spray, Maximised-Edge Design and new pad technology of the Braava Jet m6 to tackle it all. Premium 3-Stage Cleaning System cleans the dirt and pet hair you see and the allergens and dust you don't.
