It’s a good choice if gaming is not important to you, or you only play slow-paced games (like Civilization VI or Microsoft Flight Simulator).

The LG 34GN850 is a fantastic ultrawide gaming monitor with excellent color quality and responsiveness. The backlight is rated at 350 cd/m2 with a 440 cd/m2 peak, while the contrast ratio is listed at 1000:1, unlike other Nano IPS models.ViewSonic included this feature and it was unusable, LG has decided not to which we feel is a better choice. Choose from side by side refrigerator, top and front load washing machines, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, LED lighting and host of other efficient functional devices.

As spotted by Tom’s Hardware, the recent Canary build of Windows 11 does not include WordPad as part of the default software package. Unlike most competitors, LG places the rear IO horizontally rather than downwards-facing, which is a good move if you ask me. This makes LG's series of Nano IPS panels quite suitable as dual-use monitors for creative work as well as gaming. Paolo is a gaming veteran since the golden days of Doom and Warcraft and has been building gaming systems for family, friends, and colleagues since his junior high years. Overall, the LG 34GN850 is an excellent high-end ultrawide monitor and makes meaningful improvements to the 34GK950F, the previous best 3440 x 1440 choice. The good news is the 34GN850 does come with a functional sRGB mode that clamps the monitor to the sRGB gamut. Sadly, its ergonomics are rather poor and although its IPS panel has decent horizontal viewing angles, it's not as good as most IPS monitors.

This makes the 34GN850 one of few monitors that has a single optimal overdrive mode for adaptive sync gaming. I’m by no means a hardcore gamer — the real world often keeps me to busy to play — but I felt more skilled playing on this ultrawide. The monitor consistently delivers a 4ms response time experience at all refresh rates tested, and even as we move down to 100Hz, the level of overshoot is minimal. For OSD tweaking this now leaves you with a choice: do you use the sRGB mode to fix oversaturation, at the expense of greyscale tweaks? Although it’s still not possible to get the perfect monitor, LG has come close with its 34GN850-B, ticking many of the right boxes on the spec sheet, including a 160Hz refresh rate on its ultrawide-format Nano-IPS panel, 98% DCI-P3 coverage, 1ms response times, Adaptive-Sync, HDR400, and more. While there should be a monitor for everybody, it is still good to learn how televisions could also be an option for particular people based on what they need from a display. It has a wider gamut than the sRGB (mainly in the cyan-green range of colors) and is widely used in professional printing. The LG is a bit better for gaming because it has a much quicker response time that results in smoother motion, and it gets brighter overall than the Samsung, making it a better choice for HDR gaming. If you’re looking for a monitor that’s only for gaming and absolute (color) performance isn’t as critical, the AOC CU34G2X with its VA panel gets you most of the way towards the LG’s experience. Dimensions, weight and color Information about the dimensions and the weight of the specific model with and without stand as well as the colors, in which it is offered to the market. I tried Monster Hunter world, TBOI, Rocket League and the Outer Wilds so far, and unless I really really look for it, I just can't notice it. The back of the monitor is made from smooth brittle plastics with a red ring around the mounts and IO.There's also the usual adaptive sync functionality, listed as Nvidia G-Sync Compatible - meaning it will work with Nvidia cards without setting adjustments - and supporting AMD FreeSync with low frame rate compensation. The maximum recorded contrast from the monitor sits at 1120:1 which is high for an IPS panel, but still enough to produce deep blacks and a convincing HDR performance. Designed with premium materials, the LG 34GN850 ensures durability and reliability over time, making it a suitable choice for those seeking a high-performing monitor. Luckily, the 34GN850 is highly calibratable in either the default or sRGB modes, because performance out of the box is pretty good. Same with refresh rate compliance, this latest batch of IPS technology is clearly fast enough to handle refresh rates like 160Hz.
