Description

Additionally, this telescope comes with a 20 mm eyepiece that provides a wide field of view and enhances the user’s viewing experience by making it easier to locate celestial objects. With its powerful magnification capabilities, users can explore deep space objects such as galaxies or observe details on planetary surfaces like Jupiter’s Great Red Spot. Accessories include a 20mm and 10mm eyepiece, erect image diagonal, and a finderscope. The two eyepieces offer different magnifications for low and high powered views. The 130mm refractor telescope is intuitive to use. Explore the sky with the two slow-motion control knobs that allow for fine pointing adjustments in both Right Ascension (RA) and Declinations (DEC) axes. The included tripod has an adjustable height of up to 1.3 meters and an accessory tray. One of the best things about the Astromaster 130 EQ is its ease of use. It is simple to set up and comes with a StarPointer red dot finder and Starry Night Astronomy software. The Starry Night Astronomy software helps you learn more about astronomy and makes locating objects in the night sky easy. Another thing to consider is that German equatorial mounts like the CG-3 are not the most comfortable ergonomically with a Newtonian telescope. The eyepiece can wind up in some odd positions. The 130EQ optical tube can be rotated in its rings to adjust the position of the eyepiece, but you could easily throw off the balance and/or skew the pointing of the telescope in the process of doing so.

The Celestron Astromaster 130EQ also comes with Starry Night astronomy software which can help users locate celestial objects in the sky. However, there are some limitations to this telescope. Its plastic focuser is not very durable and may cause image distortion if not used carefully. Additionally, the mount may need frequent adjustments during use. How easy is it to use?

Out of the box, this reflector comes with everything the observer needs to shoot pleasing images of the Moon, bright planets and more luminous deep-sky targets. It's not possible to partake in long-exposure images, but as an introduction to astrophotography the AstroMaster 130EQ is certainly worth a look – especially given the very reasonable price tag, clear and crisp views and excellent overall build.

This is particularly useful when observing planets or other objects at high magnification where any vibration or movement can cause significant image distortion. Never use your optic to project an image of the Sun onto any surface. Internal heat build-up can damage the optic and any accessories attached to it.

OVER 60 YEARS OF INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY

Given the telescope’s affordable price, the included eyepieces provide satisfactory performance, though more serious enthusiasts might consider investing in higher-quality eyepieces or adding a Barlow lens to further enhance their astronomical experience. The free starry night astronomy software included in the Celestron Astromaster 130 EQ box One of the standout features of Starry Night Astronomy software is its real-time sky projection. This function allows users to see a live representation of the sky, showing which celestial objects are currently visible and their precise locations. This feature can greatly enhance the stargazing experience, making it easier to plan observations and learn about different stars, planets, and deep-space objects.
