Description
God never intended you to be stumbling in darkness, fumbling around like a ship without a rudder on a dark, stormy night. No! You can walk in the light as the Holy Spirit opens your understanding, guides you, teaches you, instructs you, and leads you through this world. The Holy Spirit gave me a new love for my family, friends, other Christians, and even for persons who had been my enemies.” We’ve talked a lot about who the Holy Spirit is and how He helps us. He is there for us in times of need, and He empowers us to love others and bear fruit for His kingdom. But the Holy Spirit wants to be more than our crisis manager and our productivity manager. He wants relationship. People used to say of Kathryn Kuhlman that the Holy Spirit was her best friend. I remember hearing that and thinking, “Oh, I want that!” And I do. I love that the Holy Spirit is there when we cry out for help, but the relationship is created to be so much more than that. There’s another level at which He comforts and encourages as a companion; that’s the best part of our relationship with Him. If we aren’t cultivating that, we’re missing out on the best gift He has given us: Himself. If we are to befriend the Holy Spirit in a more meaningful way, we must become dependent upon Him – I mean desperately dependent upon Him.
He fills us, giving us life, strength, hope, and freedom (Rom 8:2, 6, 13; Rom 15:13; Eph 5:18; 2 Cor 3:17). He reveals the Truth, convicting us of sin and illuminating our minds (John 16:8, 13; Eph 1:17-18; Luke 24:32). Maybe you would like your friend to be wiser, stronger, and better than you are. Then your friend would teach you, help you day by day, and answer your questions. He or she would help you with all of your problems. And the more time you would spend together, the more like your friend you would become—stronger, wiser, better than you are now.I don’t imagine that my response was entirely appropriate, but I guess I would, in this case, plead “Righteous Indignation”. I was forward when I asked, “And why on earth do you think the people shouldn’t hear about the Holy Spirit until they’re at the ‘next level’?” In Old Testament times God talked with the prophets and showed them His love. They told the people about His love. But many people still thought of God only as a strict judge ready to punish them for their sins. They did not understand that He wanted to save them from their sins and be their Father. When I first began to understand years ago that the Holy Spirit actually enjoyed being with me and was happy to see me, everything changed. My conversation with Him used to be filled with feelings of condemnation. As I began to understand the truth of what it means to live by faith in God’s forgiveness and righteousness, I was able to boldly approach the throne of grace. The Bible says, “The righteous are bold as a lion” (Prov. 28:1b), but until you settle in your heart that the blood of Jesus is enough to cleanse you from all unrighteousness, you won’t be able to have that boldness. You won’t be able to engage in your relationship with the Holy Spirit at that level of delight and joy because you’ll always be wondering if everything is OK between you. In the same way today, all those who have been born again have the Spirit of Christ. But Jesus wants to baptize them in His Spirit so that they can be more effective witnesses for Him. You will study about this later. Peter 1:2. You were chosen according to the purpose of God the Father and were made a holy people by His Spirit. HE WILL TEACH YOU
The Holy Spirit Seals Us. “In whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise” (Eph. 1:13). The issue is not how much the believer has of God but how much God has of the believer. At salvation, we surrender the will, and we spend the rest of our natural lives giving away and dying to self.

Who is the Holy Spirit? Is He still given today, not just in the era of the apostles? Is He equally significant like God the Father and God the Son, Jesus who died on the cross? Maybe, oftentimes we obscurely harbor questions regarding the Holy Spirit in our heart. The scripture above can answer all those questions. Jesus had once instructed His disciples that the Holy Spirit was so crucial for them that the Son of God had to leave for Him to come. The Holy Spirit is my most beloved Friend! In The Pentecostal Evangel, Robert C. Cunningham wrote about the question, “What does it mean to be filled with God?” He said this: “We know what it means for a person to be filled with fear, don’t we—or filled with envy, or anger! . . . It means that these strong forces urge him to actions which express the spirit that has gained control of him.”
