Description

Following the bestselling The Seven Sisters, The Storm Sister is the second book in Lucinda Riley's epic saga of love and loss, inspired by the mythology of the Seven Sisters constellation. Although the story is a fictional account of a woman whose roots take her on the high road to Norway where the story again takes us hundred years back in time highlighting the love story between the world's one of the greatest music composers, Jens Halvorsen and the famous singer, Anna Landvik, that is set around in Norway as well as in Germany. I also liked Anna, she may be naive and innocent, but she learns to stand up for herself and use her talent to get herself out of various difficult situations.

Ally D'Aplièse is about to compete in one of the world's most perilous yacht races, when she hears the news of her adoptive father's sudden, mysterious death. The sheer arrogance of 'I get to patronize you in the name of protectiveness, but you don't get to veto my self-destructive decisions' drove me up the fucking walls. Ally is an incredibly determined woman, and despite the amount of grief she endures, she manages to find a new source of creativity, a new home and a new family in which she can raise her and Theo’s child. Her father's death hits her hard, and soon she faces another devastating blow when someone close to her drowns. The Storm Sister by Lucinda Riley is book 2 in The Seven Sister series I had great expectations for this one because I absolutely loved the first book 😍 but this one I found didn't really hold my interest for very long.Star’s story will take us from the wilds of Cumbria and the raw beauty of the Lake District to the excesses and social whirl of Edwardian London. All I can say is less is more, and I hope the remaining books aren't this jam-packed with unnecessary plot devices and false hopes. But be warned this isn’t a book you pick up and read in a couple of hours, it’s one of those stories that demands you pay attention but at the same time you get lost in its pages. I absolutely loved travelling up to Trondheim and seeing the fjords and the snow-capped mountains beneath me from the aeroplane.

Obwohl ich Ally genauso sympathisch fand wie Maia, hätte ich doch ein bisschen meine Probleme um mit Anna warm zu werden. I think this is definitely slower than the first book, and Anna's story takes a long while to get going, but it's very satisfying at the end.Parts of the book drag on forever (the scenes after Pa Salt's Death could have focused on the aspects and conversations that were unique to Ally instead of retelling absolutely everything we already knew from the first book), while parts I found more interesting (Felix' parents' story, Anna and Grieg) felt rushed even though they were vital parts of the family history. Rushing back to meet her five sisters at their family home, she discovers that her father – an elusive billionaire affectionately known to his daughters as Pa Salt – has left each of them a tantalising clue to their true heritage.
