Presently, Iron 'Arry is the only Mini not to have a Classic model despite having a DC Super Friends™ variant. Classic Bash and Classic Dash and their variants ( excluding Sports Bash and Creature Dash) had flat wheels. Each engine in the blind bags has its own respective item code. This can be used to distinguish a particular model apart. The enterity of the non-holiday variants featured make up the fourth series of blind bags for the 2017 series.

Light Up Rosie was originally going to be made in her original livery, but the final product features her in her current one. Illustrations of Henry, Toby, Ben, Diesel, Hiro, Bash, Iron Bert, Metallic Edward, Metallic Gordon, Spooky Emily, Neon Bash, Winter Gordon, Racing Dash, and Mono Luke can be seen on the Advent Calendar alongside illustrations of the included engines.

Advent Chrome Thomas features Thomas with golden bells strung along his side tanks with red bows, an additional red bow on his roof and evergreen branches with pearls poking out between the bows. The artwork of Percy on the box erroneously has a white hole in the center of his bufferbeam instead of his coupling hook. The range was first produced in Thailand having weights inside. Some 2016/4 models continuing into 2017, the production moved to China onwards, removing the weights. The overall design and make have relatively stayed the same. Fizz 'n' Go Nia & Animals Set (includes: Exclusive Fizz 'n' Go Nia, Mini Panda Animal, Mini Elephant Animal, Mini Zebra Animal, Mini Giraffe Animal, Mini Rabbit Animal & Mini Chihuahua Animal) Bertie, Harold and Kevin are depicted as engines. Strangely, though, his Steel Superman prototype shows his nameplate on his smoke deflectors.

From the release of 2016/4, the Minis production facility has been moved from Thailand to China. Coincidentally this wave also had re-used numerical codes that were also seen from other waves in 2016. They also had gaps in between chronological sequence. This is the first wave that this has occurred.
