See that? That’s her paper copy with an (estimated) ba-jillion notes! I loved meeting Sandra of Plum Prairie Ranch! You don't have to live overwhelmed by stuff-you can get rid of clutter for good! Decluttering expert identifies the emotional challenges that make it difficult to declutter and provides workable solutions to break through and make progress.

This book is a must for people who’ve collected a lifetime worth of stuff and are realizing the house, the cabinets, the spare rooms, the garage, the basement and the kitchen just aren’t big enough. It simply needs to be put away. Clean dishes that are sitting in a dishwasher fall under this category of “easy stuff.” Glancing around the room to find easy stuff heavily reduces the volume of clutter and shrinks the mess down significantly. Step 3 – Duh Clutter Even if you have your home "under control" and find it easy to declutter and organize I can guarantee you that reading this book and learning from Dana will give you new insights for yourself." - Gina W. I did really like her ideas and the container concept was REALLY helpful for me. All of her stories of her own cluttered home over the years and what helped were very helpful too. I also enjoyed the author's tone. There were also a few more instances of helpful advice, like she says to always start decluttering in the most visible public areas because it inspires you to keep going, you see it all the time and see how much nicer things look, and makes it easier for you to move on to having people over while you're working on more private areas. The size of the shelf decides how many books your child keeps...let your child fill the container, even though Go, Dog, Go! may win out over Runaway Bunny...Mama names the container, and the person who reads these books gets to choose which books go in the container pg.166 She walks you through each of those steps in every room and also regarding other people (like helping elderly people clean out their houses).

And that was when I made a conscious choice to live in the phase of life I was in. Right then. I decided to stop assuming I knew what I’d love to already have in the future. Used properly, containers are limits. They keep clutter from spreading. They keep stuff under proper control by preventing and limiting the expansion of that stuff. But how? Collect garbage like empty water bottles, used napkins, and expired coupons. Tossing out junk starts the decluttering process and builds momentum. Step 2 – Do The Easy Stuff An amazing bargain that makes my life more difficult isn’t an amazing bargain at all. Dana K White, Decluttering At The Speed Of Life Decluttering Tips Room By Room

The Container Concept

I did love (and am stealing) her term for this work: deslobification. That’s exactly what I’m engaged in. Her other wonderful word is procrasticlutter. You know, that stuff that sits on the table, in the hallway, in your bedroom, etc. waiting for you to do it and then put it away. I am awful about this kind of thing, procrastinator that I am! We use the Container Concept all the time now in our small house with my hubby, kids and even myself to help us make decisions about stuff. If you aren’t keeping it and it can be donated, you put it straight into a donate box. Otherwise, it goes in the trash. There's a constant rotation of dishes and newspapers and school projects going onto and off of our table, but that table can't be the permanent resting place of anything that doesn't directly contribute to eating dinner as a family. Cute vase, napkin holder, and a salt and pepper set? Great. Printer, paper shredder, and jewelry tree? Nope. Access to a private, four-week book club in March. We’ll do these through a private (though not secret, as I learned last time is way too much hassle) Facebook group where I’ll go live once each week in March, discussing sections of the book and answering your questions.
