Other: This story has a real fable feel, like, the logic of it doesn't make much sense but that's ok, it's a fairy tale kind of story with a lot of whimsy. She makes friends with other nocturnal creatures by giving them a little of the light she gathers to help them. I found the visuals here very appealing, appreciating both the wintry vistas (something I always enjoy), and the depiction of Sable (unsurprising, as a fox lover).

The book has an ultra cozy feel and is a perfect read aloud before bedtime, offering up a reminder that we are all important and that each one of us carries a special light within us. But while Ella spends her nights awake helping others, what she truly longs for is to see the sunrise. I would recommend this title for purchase for those collections that have strong friendship themes and that need materials on night activities and fans of Lucy Fleming. Ella and all the creatures look so cute and I love how so many of the animals seen earlier on in some of the pages appear again as the story continues.

The story in this book is really lovely, it teaches important lessons like friendship, helping others in need, being helpful and sharing our heart and lights with others. If you look very carefully at the night sky, you might spot a teeny-tiny sparkle out of the corner of your eye, a whisper of a tinkling trail. By the end of the book she has helped so many creatures and they want to help her so they create a fort for her to stay in so she can see the sunlight.Again, when she alights upon Luna, a little owl clutching to high branches all alone, Ella calms her with ‘ Don’t be scared. I love the concept of this story Ella uses her night light to give others Hope and she helps them out with their problems.
