Description
this explains so much of how lucas was acting at the beginning of season 4 and it's so lazy and cowardly of them not to explore the racism lucas is facing on the screen, and instead putting it in a book 60% of the fans will not read. Especially this one that follows Lucas during season 4 -- you know, the season where we start off not really vibing with this kid anymore. Dry fly is without any doubt my go to method; the only method actually in which I have supreme confidence.
And he begins to understand himself as a Black teen in Hawkins, which feels unlike anything—in this world or any other—he’s ever experienced. Had children run away from him and refuse to touch him because they thought his Black skin color would rub off on them.We see themes of oppression and marginalization explored with Eddie’s character and I wish Lucas was included in that. One of the greatest slices of this universe is the companion novels that focus on individual characters. My most recent picture book is Attack of the Giant Baby, illustrated by Bruce Ingman, the only book I've written but not illustrated. The only reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5 is because the last ~80 pages of the books suddenly turn to a summarized version the beginning of the show as opposed to a story that focuses on Lucas.
The writing was amazing and we finally get to know what Lucas is thinking, how he feels and what he has been going through. He has written a number of works for younger readers, most recently Stranger Things: Lucas on the Line and Minecraft: The Haven Trials. It was so well written and gives you more of an understanding of why they broke up that we didn’t get to see in the show. About the Book Dive into this revealing portrait of Stranger Things fan favorite Lucas Sinclair and get to know Lucas like never before. If anything, it really just makes you realize how much the show drops the ball with him, which is a shame because Caleb McLaughlin is an amazing actor. Bueno y ya con este libro, he entendido muchísimo más el comportamiento del personaje y se me partía el corazón con cada cosa que leía. They were very angsty but what else can you expect from a friend group of fourteen-year-old teenagers as the characters. While it's loosely implied in season 4 that Lucas wants to be popular to avoid racist bullies, Lucas on the Line explicitly shows what Lucas and other black kids in Hawkins face. He begins to see himself and his life differently, and he learns things that he might not have learned from his parents and things his friends wouldn’t understand because of course they wouldn’t.
The lack of communication between Lucas and his friends is annoying, but you can tell how much the Party is splintering. He treats the characters with respect and uses a combination of new and familiar voices to provide depth and color.and most post are people praising ElMax and then being like “oh Lucas/lumax is cute too” in the tags and that’s it). The latest of these companion novels reviewed here is Lucas on the Line, published in 2022 and written by Suyi Davies ( Black Boy Joy. I actually didn't find myself craving a continuation of Lucas's POV for the rest of the season, which goes to show just how well Davies captured his mindset.
