I adored that Emma has my age, she is so relatable for a woman like me who still doesn't have planned her life and she is trying to find her place in the World, plus we share the same memories of old gold times. Jughead's grandfather could also have something to do with the plot too, considering he was one of the previous Baxter Brothers ghostwriters. OG Forsythe Jones will be introduced in the mid-season finale. Coincidentally, that's when show-runner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has hinted that we'll learn more about what happened during the Spring Break flash forward in that episode. I really felt sad reading about all of Lexi's efforts to become perfect and to chase perfection with any cost. The secret relationship mentioned with the school's bad boy left a lot to be desired, however. I was hoping for more palpable chemistry between Lexi and Tyler, but we never truly got to see their dynamics in depth, mostly because Faking Perfect did not focus on the romance, which was midly disappointing. Part of my reason for not fully being involved in the romance was also my inability to connect with Tyler as a character. We barely learn anything about Tyler's character aside from his bad boy attitude and that made me sad because he had the potential to be an amazing character from the glimpses that we did get of him in the book. I also didn't appreciate the storyline involving Lexi's crush, Ben. I thought it wound up being trite and I didn't particularly care for it. I do have to clarify that the book didn't have a true triangle and that there was no cheating going on, thankfully. The romantic relationship wasn't my favorite, but I did really like the friendship that Lexi had with Nolan, despite it being very frayed. Nolan's support and loyalty towards Lexi even though she basically hid him from the rest of her friends, was admirable and I loved him for it. While it does seem like a lot about Faking Perfect didn't work for me, I actually found myself enjoying the book because of Rebecca Phillips' writing which turned out to be very readable. First you steal me rum and now my cigs," Tyler said indignant. "What's next? You want my wallet? My heart? No, wait... you already stole that."

Coined by Sam Gregory at the human rights organisation Witness, shallowfakes are videos that are either presented out of context or are doctored with simple editing tools. They are crude but undoubtedly impactful. A shallowfake video that slowed down Nancy Pelosi’s speech and made the US Speaker of the House sound slurred reached millions of people on social media. Besides laughing through the pain, Ella's relationship with her niece and nephew was definitely cute. I also really enjoyed getting to know Marco too. He was a perfect addition to this book and definitely made things more enjoyable. The plot not only focuses in romance but a large amount in family relationships too. Lexi has a hard-life after her drug addict father abandoned her and her mother. But she didn’t know that her mother lied about so many things related to her father who was still alive out there.I felt sympathetic towards her situation and I totally hated Lexi’s mother here, not only she wasn’t a good mother to her and the way she treats her is unacceptable too.At start I didn’t liked Lexi too who faked herself to get the attention of a guy I can understand she has gone through a hard life and her life isn’t perfect but still, she doesn’t need to build a fake personality of herself. Anyways, as the plot goes further I’ve started to like her more.

So when Emma rings Ella saying she's in desperate need of her help, because she's going to have to go away for a while. Lexi had a no strings attached relationship with Tyler, which he was fine with at first. Now, towards the end of senior year, Tyler realizes he’s in love with her and wants more from the relationship. Lexi does not feel the same way as she’s still pinning after her friend, Ben, who may not be as perfect as Lexi seems to believe. Her relationships with Ben, Tyler, and Nolan respectively were each distinct and had an interesting dynamic and revealed a lot about Lexi. Watching Lexi realize who was important and unimportant to her was fascinating, as was seeing her thoughts and opinions change, often following instead of preceding her actions.

There are plenty of giggles in this narrative. I loved how forth-coming and honest Ella was about her experiences. There were many that I could relate to and I think this is what will make this very popular with readers. Ella is able to almost completely protect the secret of being her sister Emma (did I mention that they are identical twins?!) but I loved the jeopardy she finds herself in when growing attracted to a couple of members of the school community. Of course, Ella has to remind herself that she is happily-married Emma who would not want a relationship but, deep down, this is what the real Ella truly wants. Faking It is a hilarious romantic comedy about what really matters in life and a reminder that nobody is as perfect as they appear to be. Well that’s exactly what happens to Ella, and when her twin sister Emma makes that call, Ella completely agrees to the plan. I mean how hard could it be to live the high life and take care of a niece and nephew she doesn’t even know? Easy peasy right? Not so fast……I liked very much Tyler, because he was an authentic guy. A guy that even though Lexi was using him was there for her when she needed him the most. He was the right guy for her. I really loved that dude!!! Lexi was very dissapointed from this kind of life, so for the last three years she was trying to change herself. Outside, she was acting like a perfect girl. Witty writing, laugh out loud moments and a heart-warming story is the standard I have come to expect from Portia Macintosh and Faking It does not disappoint.

Her mother was an alchoolic person and her boyfriends at every time was assholes. She wasn't paying too much attention in her daughter and her father was out of the picture since she was four... Faking Perfect is the story of Lexi, a girl with a pretty crap home life who thinks that the answer to all her problems is to try and fit in with the popular crowd. Unfortunately for her shiny image, she also has a weakness for bad boys and when she seduces resident tattoo-sporting, weed-dealing miscreant, Tyler Flynn, at the beginning of her senior year and carries on a secret relationship with him, she makes him avoid her at school, keep her secret and never ever tease her about her crush on her friend and local golden boy, Ben. This is a great read, showing how life can be so different to that you expect when moving to live in someone else's place. The story is definitely a great romcom but that ending is so emotional! Ella trying to fit in with Emma's rich, gossiping friends, taking over organising tasks, dealing with strangers who assume she knows them, trying to cater for the children who assume she's their Mum . . . a fabulous fun read that I thoroughly enjoyed!

Lexi's character is also not very likable, at times she is downright annoying, immature and the way she think about herself that she is out of someone's league. I think that is much like humiliating yourself in front of yourself , I hated that. She is not confident about herself and also hurt people who cared about her, damn. Faking Perfect is the first arc I've received personally, thanks to www.netgalley.com/ for approving my request to read it :) I read the book a few weeks ago, but I've finally got around to writing the long, overdue review. I'm a huge fan of Portia MacIntosh's books and once again she has written an absolute Gem of a Book! Marquez said "All human beings have three lives-public, private and secret." and I think he was right, we all live three lives, we are different person when we are with our friends, different person when we are with our family and different person when we are alone.

I don't know how the author does it, but I get to fall in love with her characters every single time. They're delightful, lovable, funny... Ella was the perfect mix of crazy and level headedness. I just loved how she didn't think twice about going to her sister's aid even though she could have used past grievances to not wanna help her, not reproaching her at all. It was so funny reading about her new "mum" status and her dealings with Emma's kids (yeah, I even liked the moody teenager and I always hate moody teenagers), her colleagues and the Yummy Mummy Mafia (what an apt moniker!). And Marco. What to say about Marco except...where can I get one like him?! Overall, FAKING PERFECT is far from being perfect but it does have its merits and I highly enjoyed it. It would be really wrong of me not to recommend it. What do I say? ‘I’m Edward’s mum,’ I lie. ‘He forgot his anti-diarrhoea medication. I thought I’d better bring it.’ ‘You’re not my mum,’ he says angrily before turning to his lady friend. ‘She’s not my mum.’Overall, this was exactly the kind of read I was in the mood for at the time. If you’re looking for an easy and enjoyable contemporary read, you should give this a try. Source: I received a digital copy of this book for free on a read-to-review basis. Thanks to Kensington Books and NetGalley.) When Lexi Shaw seduced Oakfield High’s resident bad boy Tyler Flynn at the beginning of senior year, he seemed perfectly okay with her rules:
