Adding to the Major IV’s convenient controls is digital assistant support. Siri and Google Assistant are available, so you’ll be able to shoot off voice commands without a hitch thanks to Marshall’s intelligible mics, which offer great speech recognition and register full sentences completely. It was nice to pull up NFL scores, create calendar invites, and send voice-to-text messages to friends without reaching for my smartphone. Marshall Major IV: Sound quality Where these headphones fall down is in the bass department, with slightly rolled-off frequencies which bassheads probably won’t appreciate. We tried out James Blake’s ‘If The Car Beside You Moves Ahead’ to put the bass frequencies to the test, and found the usually-body-thumping bass drum was pretty underwhelming. However, for general use, the sound is warm and balanced enough to give you a great listening experience. Slimmer than their predecessors, they have a really stylish look, and the ability to fold them down means they are great for travelling.

Battery Life: The battery life on these puppies is insane. 80 hours! I can go weeks without recharging, and I use them for a couple of hours everyday. These are the longest lasting headphones I've ever had.

Mic: I have used these for several phone calls and zoom meetings and have never had any complaints about anyone hearing me. Compared to similar on-ear models, the price sits comfortably in the mid-range and they are one of the cheaper models on offer from Marshall. Currently it is my only over ear in the past I used Sennheiser and Bose those options are still viable for at home performance but in terms of affordability and practicality these will be my go to. With a straight band and heavily padded on-ear cushions, the headphones are designed to be comfortable for long periods of time, although we did experience a little discomfort from the pressure on ears after a long listening session. If you also have this problem with on-ear headphones, we’d recommend opting for over-ear headphones, which are usually more comfy, surrounding your ears rather than being placed on top of them. Another attractive feature is the ability to share your audio using the included 3.5mm to 3.5mm audio cable. Plug the cable into the Major IV, connect it to any pair of headphones with a 3.5mm port and whatever you’re listening to will be played through the other device as well. A section of the cable stretches so you don’t have to worry about pulling the headphones off your head if one of you moves, which is a nice touch. Opportunities to take advantage of such a feature may not present themselves too often – particularly at the moment – but it’s a thoughtful and useful inclusion nonetheless. Collapsible wireless headphones in brown. Features adjustable padded faux-leather headband and ear pads. Passive noise cancellation is never a strong point of on-ear headphones, but the Marshall Major IIIs are particularly disappointing in this regard. We tried them in the office and could still easily hear people’s conversations, meaning you’d have to really blast your music if you wanted to drown out the outside world. There’s no active noise cancellation option offered here, which isn’t surprising considering this is seen as more of an entry level pair from Marshall. For active noise cancellation, you’re going to have to stump up the cash for the enjoyable and premium Marshall Mid ANCs. They're relatively small and very light. Moving from a fairly hefty set of full-sized (over-ear) headsets, I was a little unsure whether these would work for me, but they're extremely comfortable (even for those of us who have no hair and wear spectacles!) Despite the Major IV sporting softer ear cushions than their predecessor, I found myself having to occasionally adjust them to alleviate the pressure on my ears during listening sessions. Although they feel good on your head when worn for short bursts, there’s still room for improvement when it comes to a truly comfortable fit on your ears.

Audiophiles probably won’t rate the quality of the bass frequencies, but if you listen to a lot of guitar music, these might be the headphones for you. Competition: If you are looking for an on-ear Bluetooth headphone without AAC, these are hard to beat. I also have the Jabra 45's which are also very good, but I prefer these because they fold up, don't slip off my head, have the option for using 3.5 mm cord, and have a slightly more punchy bass mix. The only other options in this category are the JBL 500BT which I understand have great sound and are much cheaper but get alot of complaints for being uncomfortable. Or the Beats solo 3, which I generally feel like are overpriced and not worth it. The headphones are not to big and sit on my ears perfectly. They are comfortable for long periods of time.
