A princípio eu custei realmente a entrar na história, não percebia certas ações, não era o que eu esperava e não tinha grande interesse. The removal of children to colonise Australia is a very current subject with a lot of victim stories coming to light. Following Alice’s journey into her mother’s past felt like I was experiencing all of the surprises along with her.

Remember me is a fiction based on the true story of Mary Broad who was convicted and deported to Australia.Arriving and founding a new colony with only the remaining supplies from their ship, things are looking bleak. Alice is divorced having married at only aged 21 but she is capable and can handle anything thrown at her and is still hoping for the great love affair that will turn her world upside down. She already knows her mother was manipulative at times, vain, very secretive and never spoke of the past. The fusion of these elements adds depth to the reading experience, showcasing Pearse's mastery of storytelling.

Yes I noticed also that on Goodreads some of the readers were disappointed, but I enjoyed it and was happy to give it a 5 star. Por consejo de Tench Mary le propone a Will que se case con ella, de esa manera tendrá un poco más de respeto entre los demás hombres presos y William acepta. Sem entrar em descrições extensivas de lugares, pessoas e datas, Lesley Pearse consegue 'enviar-nos' para o final do século XVIII, visto aos olhos de uma condenada cheia de coragem. shy of her twentieth birthday, Mary is sentenced to death by hanging, for the crime of stealing a silk hat.Mary, a Cornish mariner's daughter made the biggest mistake of her short life when she steals a silk hat.

What I feel is that this book and this story don’t have the protagonism that it should, since it tells something so exceptional. This is a complete shock to Alice and she is struggling to reconcile the fact that Ralph, the man that has loved and raised her isn’t her true father. She sets about changing her life but to be honest as I couldn’t warm to her at all I didn’t feel overwhelming hope for her that she would do well in life. It was an extraordinary childhood and in all her books, Lesley has skilfully married the pain and unhappiness of her early experiences with a unique gift for storytelling. She was deceitful, conniving, a schemer, treacherous and nasty and despite her childhood I questioned was there really any necessary reason for her to turn out in such a manner?

Remember Me - Penguin Books UK

This story is cleverly written from Alice’s perspective and as Alice is on her journey of discovery, it switches to that of her mum. We at Penguin Random House Australia acknowledge that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are the Traditional Custodians and the first storytellers of the lands on which we live and work. This underlying thread is seamlessly woven into the fabric of the story, allowing readers to connect with characters who navigate challenges and setbacks. Amusingly I had just read a historical romance type pirate story, in which a ship of female convicts bound for Botany Bay is kidnapped. Tantas cosas que pasaron juntos en ese bote que cuando por fin saborearon un poco de libertad todo se derrumbó.

uma mulher nada egoísta e que fez tudo, não só pelo bem dela, mas também fez muito pelo bem dos outros.
