A simple but very relatable story about two people plagued with fears of their own and learning to take a leap for and because of each other. Woefully single, she feels lonely and does not want to get caught at the 'singles table' once again.

Because Theo is used to people leaving him, and with someone as good and pure as Claire, he knows she’ll leave him the way his mom and dad once did. The fact that she doesn’t take risks and lacks a bit of self-confidence didn’t bother me too much, mainly because her character development was very well done. As I have mentioned in my note above, this book can be considered a ‘third’ installment to an unnamed series by Harlow.Maybe he’s not exactly the ideal man, the man she thought she needed, but he’s the only man she wants. It is ever-so-slightly interconnected with After We Fall ( my review) but you absolutely do not have to read the other book before, or even after, this unless you want to. Some people want the happy ending, all wrapped up in a nice neat bow, and others are content to let the story go on forever—that’s me.

Their first encounter was entertaining and I really appreciated that there wasn’t any insta-lust or insta-love between them. She has steadily climbed to the top tier of my favorite authors as Melanie Harlow’s words are my wine: fine and flawless, potent and powerful, and savored to the very last drop. I happened to see this come up on a friends feed on goodreads and read the synopsis and thought I would give it a go.He had baggage due to his tragic backstory (which broke my heart), but he wasn't really dealing with it properly and that lead to all the drama in the book.

This poor hero is genuinely broken and it was both heart-breaking and heart-warming to watch them find a way to make things work. Maybe it’s because I have been involved with quite a few Theo’s in my day and I know just how much they can break a girl’s heart. But for right now all she needs is a date to avoid the dreaded singles table at her friend’s wedding. While all of the books are standalones (Frenched and Yanked are the only exception), characters from previous books do show up in later ones. With a haunting past, Theo struggles with his feelings but shows his love without realising it, but, when he does realise he runs scared.Theo was incredibly sexy and charismatic during the first 25% of the story but as he started to become a serious flake and kept putting Claire through so much unnecessary heartache, I started to lose my love for his character.
