Description

Not quite as good a disc as we come to expect now, and lets down the average a bit, but there are a few gems here particularly the start of the disc (up until and including 'Wires' before the quality takes a complete nosedive, briefly recovering for 'Black and White Town'/'An Honest Mistake' and then 'Amarillo' right at the end). That exceeded the previous best for this year, held by David Bowie’s Blackstar, which sold 146,000 copies in its opening week after the star’s untimely death in January.

Out of Touch a very close second, followed by Back to Basics, Heartbeatz, Falling Stars, Galvanise and Need To feel Loved, all fantastic tunes! Well I knew this Now album came out just in time for Easter, but I hadn't realised it was on this date. The series is then moved forward again, with the release of Now Yearbook 1992 in July 2023 (an Extra followed in August). As always, I feel improvements could have been made to the volume overall, though I am pleased that the reissued Elvis hits were omitted from this volume. I remember jamming to to songs like, “As Long as You Love Me” by the Backstreet Boys and “All My Life” by K-Ci and Jojo with my high school friends.

Band Aid 20, Steve Brookstein and Eminem were also missed off, as was Sometimes You Can’t Make It On Your Own by U2 which did however make the tracklisting for the following volume.

In November 2018, the Now team took over the " 100 Hits" brand from Demon Music Group, and in 2019 and 2020, the Special Editions series was effectively rested while 24 different Now 100 Hits compilations were issued in very quick succession, until the end of November 2020. album features cuts by Calvin Harris featuring Rihanna, Sia featuring Kendrick Lamar, Britney Spears and the actor-turned-musician Hailee Steinfeld. The latter contains a new retro-70s Now logo design and artwork which complements its 80s sister Yearbook series. Each release is issued as a limited edition mini-hardback book, with the CDs in sleeves forming the pages of the ' yearbook' which contains an introductory overview of the year, original 7" single artwork, trivia, chart positions and a quiz.

Beginning CD1 with the decade defining 'Give Peace a Chance' from one of the biggest cultural icons of the last century - John Lennon (with Yoko Ono). The frequency in which they were released also varied from year to year; initially, and most frequently across the series, there would be one Now Dance volume per year, but in 1994 for example, there were four volumes released, and in 1996, there weren't any Now Dance compilations released. All series with the exception of United Kingdom and the United States have been discontinued, New Zealand had two more albums released as a playlist only on Spotify, South Africa had three more albums released as a playlist on Spotify under DJ Kurtis. A standard 4-CD version is also issued in a gatefold "wallet" design, which retails cheaper than the mini-hardback books. Now Dance 92 (2 November 1992) Uniquely, 2-LP/2-MC/CD* with 12" mixes,*single CD with abridged tracklisting and 7" edits.
