A survey of people who travel by train, carried out for the campaign, revealed more than 4 out of 5 would approach someone who may be suicidal if they knew the signs to look out for, what to say, and that they wouldn’t make the situation worse. An even higher number, nearly 9 out of 10, thought a person in need of support would find it hard to ask for help.** Usually, there are almost five million journeys made in the UK and over 600 freight trains run on the network. People depend on Britain's railway for their daily commute, to visit friends and loved ones and to get them home safe every day. Our role is to deliver a safe and reliable railway, so we carefully manage and deliver thousands of projects every year that form part of the multi-billion pound Railway Upgrade Plan, to grow and expand the nation's railway network to respond to the tremendous growth and demand the railway has experienced - a doubling of passenger journeys over the past 20 years. Our members will continue the campaign and have shown outstanding unity in pursuit of a settlement to this dispute. One in five surveyed are more likely to want to make small talk once restrictions have lifted, appreciating the sense of community the pandemic brought out Samaritans, British Transport Police (BTP) and the rail industry, including Network Rail and the train operating companies, are launching Small Talk Saves Lives to give travellers the confidence to act if they notice someone who may be at risk of suicide on or around the rail network.TEST EVENT – There will be a test event that is an open session. This test event will run from 8:00am till 10:00am on January 18 th 2024. This is ideal for those who are new to Remo or wish to familiarise themselves with the platform and new floor layout. Despite the unprecedented events of the last year, the good old British weather still remains the go-to subject for striking up conversation, chosen by 71% of people, compared to coronavirus in second place with 45%.* Patients, schoolchildren, low-paid workers and passengers need a resolution – and they will not forgive the government if they do not lift a finger to resolve this.” I’ve known Anas for a very long time. He’s a friend, I have complete respect for him, as does Keir Starmer.

The boys were also joined by Andrew Stewart of Arion Pedigrees for an international perspective on the Breeders’ Cup’s European and Japanese hopes, and ‘Joe or Jon’ contest winner Anna Simms sat in on the show after guessing 8/10 facts correctly about the hosts! Sarah Wilson said:“Someone showing that they cared about me helped to interrupt my suicidal thoughts and that gave them time to subside. The more that people understand that suicide is preventable, the better. I hope people will share the video and that the campaign will encourage people to trust their gut instincts and start a conversation if they think someone could need help. You won’t make things worse, and you could save a life.’There are two weeks until the first strike is planned. We will use this time to keep talking to our unions and, through compromise and common sense on both sides, we hope to find a solution and avoid the damage that strike action would cause all involved,” he said.
