Suspects do not simply give paragraph-book responses; instead The Chisel carefully chooses how they will answer. The detective to the left of the Chisel will take the first turn of the game, and the Chisel does not take turns as they will instead be making key decisions on a detective's turn. The superbly written suspect responses bring out the theme and make each character and each case feel real and unique. They must answer the questions needed to solve the case which will be placed on their investigation sheet. With the Chisel trying to thwart you at every turn, at least you’ve got your fellow detectives to help you out, right?

Detective: City of Angels comes with nine cases, varying in difficulty from Gumshoe (easy) to Hardboiled (hard).

BE A SLEUTH: Most players will step into the shoes of LAPD homicide detectives, hungry for glory and willing to do whatever it takes to successfully close a case, even if that means intimidating suspects, concealing evidence, and hiring snitches to rat on their fellow detectives. What happens when you ALSO have to identify each additional accomplice that was involved as well as where the next crime could take place? Players can spend actions on their turn to gain ‘scratch’ or claim a hefty kickback from the mob if they’re at the right location. A game begins with each detective being handed a case file containing the details of the mystery they are about to solve. If the Challenge is successful, the leverage marker will be placed on the suspect to be used against them for future questioning, and the Chisel will give the Detective the "most useful response".The only issue with not correctly solving the case is the Detective must wait until the last day is over to try to guess again during the "Final Guess".
