Thanks to the improved JPEG processing engine, GH5 does a great job with saturation, contrast, hue accuracy, and high ISO noise reduction. Performance I mean, this entire conversation was literally me just saying that you should compare M43 lenses to equivalent lenses if you want to brag about size and people getting huffy. Its sensor and lens mount are Micro Four Thirds. The camera works with autofocus lenses fromOlympus, Panasonic, Sigma, and a few others, and has broad compatibility with manual focus lenses. Wireless live streaming might not seem like a huge craze yet, but Panasonic has made it a big promotional point of the GH5 II’s launch. At the time of writing, it’s the only high-quality mirrorless camera with built-in wireless live streaming, so vloggers and other content creators should take note. The sensor is essentially the same one that Panasonic has been using across its Lumix G camera range for some time now, though it’s matched up with a new, faster Venus processing engine which brings new and enhanced video modes and contributes towards this camera’s burst shooting abilities. There are a slew of control buttons, providing direct control over white balance, ISO, and other frequently adjusted settings. They're supplemented with an on-screen interface. The GH5 II's 3-inch LCD is sensitive to touch, giving you the flexibility to tap the screen to change settings or to go with the directional controls on the rear for navigation through menus. For [4K 60p] [4K 50p] video output, use an HDMI2.0 cable that has the HDMI logo on it, and that is described as"4K compatible".
Blurring the lines between stills and video
The GH5 II is the first time that a GH model hasn't represented a major push forward for video in stills/video ILCs, but that responsibility instead falls to the promised GH6. The GH5 II's role is to provide an updated version of the GH5 at a competitive price, and it does so extremely well. The GH5 II relies on Panasonic's DFD autofocus system. It's built around contrast detection, a different approach than the hybrid phase-contrast system used by most rivals, including Olympus' top Micro Four Thirds models, the E-M1 Mark III and E-M1X. Alright, enough history. The GH5 has almost doubled its frame rate with up to 180fps with full HD and 4k with 60 fps. Connectivity Streaming quality is limited to a maximum of 1080p/60fps, but will automatically adapt to its connection. Our Facebook stream downgraded the resolution to 720p, for instance – but the connection remained solid, running with a 15-second or so delay.
You can utilise and control your camera wirelessly by connecting via the Wi-Fi app. In the last 3 years, software updates have drastically improved the autofocus function. Lots of manufacturers have added the ability to use their cameras as webcams during the Covid19 pandemic, but Panasonic has gone a step further.If the camera has not completed image transmission when it is turned off, it restarts transmission when it is turned on with the [Auto Transfer] function. But, while the GH5 II doesn't push the market forward in the way its predecessor did, it still looks to offer a compact, high-quality, stabilized video platform at a competitive price.
The AF area in [Multi AF] can be moved to the other edge (side, top or bottom) when it reaches one edge. Where regular cameras place a limit on the maximum video recording time, the GH5S offers unlimited recording. It also records at higher quality levels than those cameras – not in terms of resolution, but colour depth and compression. It does this by recording video at 10bits not 8bits. It might sound like a small difference, but that’s four times the colour data of regular 8-bit video, for smoother gradations in tone and less risk of banding. It also offers higher 4:2:2 colour subsampling, which means less colour interpolation – and all this with internal recording to a memory card.
