I like a hot Scottish accent as much as the next person & was considering this as a xmas gift for someone so thought I'd give the audiobook a spin. Oh man... these two come off as INSUFFERABLE douchebags. Maybe the smarmy, self-important tone isn't as obvious in print, but I'm currently 2/3 through the audio version and I don't know if I can even finish it. I'm giving it a couple of stars for the historical content (and the accents, which don't disappoint), but oof. Buyer beware. Baird: From the 13th century this surname has been associated with Lanarkshire and also with the Aberdeen and Banff regions. Important families of that name appear from the 14th century. The Bairds have long been prominent in the legal profession as well as in national affairs. John Baird was appointed Lord of Session with the title Lord Newbyth in the 17th century. General Sir David Baird (1737 – 1829) entered the Army in 1772 and served in India from 1780; he was severely wounded and taken prisoner by Hyder Ali. He captured Pondicherry in 1793 and Seringapatam in 1799 and made a famous march across the desert from the Red Sea to the River Nile in 1801. He commanded an expedition to the Cape of Good Hope in 1805. Family motto – Dominus fecit (God Made).

The team

The book and series is about the two actors traveling around Scotland in a variety of transportation including a camper, kayak, motorcycle with side car and bicycles. I think a visual will be better. Also, Scotland will be served better visually on TV rather than small pictures. The banter between the two actors gets a little tiresome. There are only so many times I need to hear that Graham McTavish drinks lattes and Heughan is a daredevil. Stream It Or Skip It: 'Mayflies' On Acorn TV, Where A Man With Cancer Asks An Old Friend To Help Him Die On His Own Terms Clanlands: Whisky, Warfare and a Scottish Adventure Like No Other”, by Outlander stars Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish is a combination of Scottish history (including the history of the country itself, the tartans/kilts, its clans and its whisky), with a little bit of comedy mixed in. Narrated completely by the stars themselves, Heughan and McTavish dictate their journey across the Scottish countryside in an attempt at learning about themselves, and the country they call home. Lennox: Lennox was one of the ancient divisions of Scotland, and comprised the present county of Dumbarton, with portions of Stirling, Perth and Renfrew. The Sheriffdom of the district was granted to Mathew, Earl of Lennox in 1511. Henry Stewart, Lord Darnley (1545 – 1567) was the second son of the Earl of Lennox. He was created Duke of Albany and in 1565 he married Queen Mary, who had him proclaimed King of Scotland. The marriage was an unhappy one, and his part in the murder of Rizzio estranged him from the Queen. He was on the point of leaving the country when he was murdered at the Kirk-o’-Field in 1567. He was the father of the future King James VI and I. Family motto – I’ll defend.

The first building on this hallowed ground near Roy Bridge was built in the 15th century by Ewan Macallan, one of the great Cameron chiefs. He went on a pilgrimage to Rome after the untimely death of his son, Donald. The Pope ordained that he should build six chapels to expiate his sins, and Cille Choirill Church is one of them. a b "Fraser of Lovat". MyClan.com. Archived from the original on 19 March 2007 . Noel Fielding Almost Chokes Up Sending Two Bakers Home on 'The Great British Baking Show' "Pastry Week" If you’re a fan of the TV series Outlander and are new to Scottish history, heritage and culture, this book will be great for you. Not only do Graham and Sam cover the actual story of the Jacobite Risings, they also tell the stories of other famous characters, such as Mary Queen of Scots, William Wallace and Rob Roy. Interspersed throughout stories of Scotland, they share their own personal journeys as well as stories from the set of Outlander.
