I enjoy a bit of musk as a base note, and all the notes in this intrigued me to try it on, but it was like a foghorn drowning out a string quartet. The sillage isn't huge, I think some have mentioned that the present formula is weaker than it was previously. I immediately fell in love with this one, with it's naughty male/female symbols and my mother's equally immediate ban on me wearing something this grown up.This begins with a very "vintage" feel to me, and is somewhat linear (so far anyway); but is rather comfy and a tad "perfumey", no doubt from the aldehydes! but I did smell it a bit in the drydown, so I guess it must be the scent itself not being very musky, and not a problem of my nose. Musk fascinates for its simple but cryptic nature: it looks like a simple, almost childlike perfume, but its evolution reveals an emotional and sentimental character.

It is a persistent and unforgettable perfume, which will stand by you all day long without getting tired: it leaves the floral hint after a few hours, releasing the sweetness of vanilla and tonka beans. It smells like plastic and old hairspray with a fecal edge, lighter than Kiehl's Musk Oil, but still there. I live in a hot climate so I like fresh scents in the morning and even at bed time, but sometimes the fresh scents can be chilling, so this is like an inoffensive and slightly elevated musk/baby powder type scent that could still be cozy yet non-descript. I don't know why I feel like it's synthetic when all musks are in this day and age (and I prefer it that way).I remember seeing this for sale when I was a teenager, but I never sampled it and none of my friends wore it. On his way differentiate a fresh touch of bergamot, which is winding down to make way for a floral bouquet, consisting of jasmine, ylang-ylang, rose and geranium. Overall, I think it's a pleasant, somewhat sexy fragrance that has been popular for decades for good reason! So well blended that you can't pick out any one note, besides the musk, which melts into my skin and disappeared.
