years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what's left of society into chaos. This long-anticipated follow-up to Ridley Scott's 1982 cult classic struggled to connect with viewers . In fact, I’d say it’s arguably the least aggressive HDR image I’ve seen (though there is some nice refinement going on in the picture’s dark areas).

As clean as dialogue is, there are long stretches of silence where no one is talking and all you're left with is atmosphere. After the middling Prometheus and the messy Alien Covenant, I don't think he would have had the patience to let this film and its ideas breathe in a satisfying way. nits and a Maximum Luminance of 10,000 nits, making the disc one of the first to use the full dynamic range available to HDR.Leto was simply not used as much as I was expecting, but the man can’t turn in a bad performance, so every time Wallace appeared on screen you were simply mesmerized. Blue Planet II (3-5/5) - while there are portions that look like they were filmed in 2K or even lower (low resolution, low light scenes for example), the 4K scenes shot with the 6K RED EPIC DRAGON camera/sensor look amazing; truly spectacular 5/5 demo material! This film takes place in Los Angeles and the year 2049, thirty years after the first film took place ( 2019).

First up we have the three prologues, which flesh out what happened in the years between Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049. So, fans can rest assured 50% of the original screenplay writing force is back here for this sequel. Ford gets to play a three-dimensional character, caustic and sarcastic (as he can be), and turning the role into one of genuine anguish and sadness. The extras are all on the included Blu-ray disc and are decent enough, with the promotional shorts and various production featurettes. Whilst Scott's original is a visually iconic 80s sci-fi masterpiece, Villeneuve's Roger Deakins-shot sequel boasts its own distinctive visual majesty, with some of the most jaw-dropping shots in any film of recent times. This almost reminds me of Pacific Rim, as its a very well done mix, but one that is just INTENSE, acting as a sonic assault rather than a gentle mix. However, Niander Wallace himself has a desire for this powerful secret, and he uses his powerful influence to steal the information for himself.
