About this deal

The story then flips back to her student days where she first meets Heath, a fellow student who develops an obsession with Cleo that never ends. There was a lot of angst and emotion in the writing and you fully felt it all - sometimes I wanted to scream at Cleo and ask her what the hell she was doing. Usually, this would be a positive for me as I prefer to be shocked than for a story to go down the obvious route, but I did feel slightly let down when a new twist came into play.

She is a very different person in the present day and it’s intriguing trying to work out what, how and why her life has imploded. It took me a while to get into this book, but once I did I couldn't stop thinking about what was going to happen to next and looked forward to the next time I could read it to find out. There are lots of twists and turns in this book which keep you gripped right until the very last page. But now she has decided to walk away from it all - including divorcing her husband, Wallace - before her past secrets catch up with her. I was absolutely delighted to learn that Dorothy Koomson, one of my top ten, or quite possibly even my top five favourite authors had written a new novel.Hanging out with her best friend Trina and trying to persuade geeky Heath that she doesn’t fancy him. A clever and multi-layered dark thriller, My Other Husband is a gripping read that left me gasping in shock more than once.

I did like some of the characters, especially Sidney, but felt that a good story became a little fantastical when all was said and done. Mais para a frente, conforme vão surgindo algumas revelações surpreendentes, a história ganha um novo ritmo, tornando-se de leitura compulsiva. This was my first Koomson book (even though I've had one of her previous books on my shelf for the last 11 years, it's moved with me 7 times!Dorothy’s first novel, The Cupid Effect, was published in 2003 (when she was quite a bit older than 13).

Never one to rest on her laurels, Dorothy Koomson really takes things to another level with My Other Husband. I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Headline via NetGalley and this review is my own unbiased opinion. For anyone that has read this authors books before, you know that you fall into the storyline hook line and sinker, and that you just keep reading. Despite all of this, the pacing of the story did throw me off a bit as it didn't really hook me until a good half way through and because of this it made the big twists, turns and ending feel quite rushed. We then go further back in time to 1996 to her days as a student at Leeds University where she becomes best friends with Trina. This is the kind of mystery, though, where you want the main character to contact the police at multiple points, which she does not do, so the plot can plod along. My Other Husband is like a gigantic puzzle of obsession, control, secret lives, and past crimes, and I absolutely loved how the pieces slowly came together as we moved between past and present to unravel Cleo’s mindblowing past. Never one to rest on her laurels, Dorothy Koomson really takes things to another level with My Other Husband . It’s been a while since I’ve read a full book in one day but this was literally in my hand for the whole day.
