Description

With a unique cooling applicator that gently presses onto the skin, this eye cream refreshes on contact with the skin leaving your eyes feeling awake. High-energy visible light (HEV light), often referred to as “blue light” are rays emitted from the screens of the devices – phones, tablets, laptops – on which we increasingly spend our days, and penetrates the skin more deeply than UV rays, in part due to how much closer its source is to our faces than the sun. Once inside the skin, it hydrates, but not from the outside - putting pure water on the skin (hello long baths! Infused with Edelweiss extract, Drops of Youth Eye Concentrate promises to smooth out the area under the eyes utilizing plant stem cell technology.

Btw, Xanthan gum is all natural, a chain of sugar molecules (polysaccharide) produced from individual sugar molecules ( glucose and sucrose) via fermentation. It has such a super-delicious scent of floral and fruit that I use it for the instant aromatherapeutic kick! Since Salicylic Acid is more effective at exfoliating at lower pHs (a pH of 4 and below is optimal), chances are, you won't get huge exfoliating effect from this, and any exfoliating effect will be very, very gradual and over time.

But I wouldn't recommend this as a product for exfoliation per se, because the level of Salicylic Acid is probably quite low, and when I tested the pH of the product, it came out to about pH6. I tried a different brand, shifted to Olay's 7 In One anti-aging serum and recently, this Youth Concentrate.Because of the lightweight texture of the product, this might not be suitable for people who have dry undereye areas, or who prefer thicker, more occlusive eye creams.

HA is famous for its crazy water holding capacity as it can bind up to 1000 times its own weight in water. And while I didn't review it last year either, the Nutriganics line also had a Bouncy Sleeping Mask too. The main ingredients in the Drops of Youth Youth Concentrate are Water, humectants (Glycerin, Propanediol, Sodium Hyaluronate), Alcohol Denat. Another highlight from the range, this has a rolling metal ball applicator and a light, gel-like texture that is more like a serum than a traditional eye cream.

So at its heart, this is a nice sleeping mask that moisturizes well (it has humectants and emollients), and also has a nice texture, and a good amount of plant extracts, in the form of Helianthus Annuus Hybrid Oil. Finally something to try and sort out my dark circles and fine lines which are developing more and more every night, I swear. Whether it is the product itself or the metal applicator that is responsible for the cooling feeling, I don’t know, but the way the product comes out when you press the pump is what gets me excited. The formula contains a trio of plant stem cells: criste marine, sea holly and edelweiss, all of which are known for their resilience and regenerating powers in the wild.

While I've written elsewhere on the blog that I recognize that alcohol has its use in skincare products (such as thinning out the product, and aiding penetration of other skincare ingredients), it's something that I personally try to avoid. There are lots of places in a skincare routine where a budget product can do the job perfectly well, but your serum often isn’t one of them; an effective, affordable serum is a rare thing. Unlike the Essence Lotion, it doesn't have an unexpected texture, and unlike the Eye Concentrate, it doesn't have nifty packaging, but nevertheless, it's a good staple if you like this range.
