The game finished 2–2 after extra time, but Rovers missed three penalties as Arsenal moved on to the semi-finals. City are without a win in the league this term with two points from their nine league matches to date. That was when Paul Merson, a former England international battling his own demons, paid him a visit and, unofficially, became his mentor. On 4 November 2006 McIndoe also scored in the Yorkshire derby against Leeds United, from outside the box with a low-driven shot.

Former teammate Matthew Upson [6] also played a huge part in advising McIndoe who would now focus on being the best athlete he could be and has been teetotal ever since.McIndoe played in numerous positions throughout the season, scoring 1 goal and making 43 appearances for the Sky Blues.

When he took the job, he made it clear to Gretna’s board of directors that he would not be doing any interviews whatsoever, even if the questions were purely about football and club matters. According to newspaper reports at the time, there were more than 300 victims ranging from English league players to mere journeymen.

McIndoe secured pre-season friendlies against Oldham Athletic, AFC Telford United and Hertford Town. Club chairman John Dickson said: "We are very happy and pleased to have Michael on board as our new manager. McIndoe, whose playing career also included spells at Hereford United, Yeovil Town, Doncaster Rovers, Barnsley and Milton Keynes Dons, has changed appearance.

Although there has been little in the press since 2015, as recently as September this year, prosecutors were said to be looking at police files into the failed ‘investment scheme’.I strongly believe that Michael can lead us into our next phase and help us achieve our goals in the future, making players better and bringing his knowledge and experience inside the club. On 3 November 2018, McIndoe played for Stirling Albion under manager Kevin Rutkiewicz in a 3–0 win against Berwick Rangers. He played his last game for Stirling Albion against Annan Athletic in a 2–2 draw on 17 November 2018. McIndoe began his career at Luton Town, where he made his home league professional debut at 18 years old against Burnley on 5 September 1998.

In the play-off semi-final against Crystal Palace, he scored a 30-yard free kick in extra-time taking Bristol City to their first Championship play-off final at Wembley Stadium [48] against Hull City in front of almost 90,000. Ex-professional footballer, Michael McIndoe, has broken his silence over claims he conned millions of pounds from fellow players, saying he has never run any kind of investment or Ponzi scheme. Shortly afterwards, a follow-up message made it absolutely clear we would be denied entry at the turnstiles.

McIndoe scored his first hat-trick in a Football League match, scoring three times against Bristol Rovers in a 5–1 win on 4 October 2003. The following year he was given the PFA Division Three Player of the Year again, this time playing for Division Three champions, Doncaster Rovers. He was brought up by his mother on The Calders in Edinburgh, a concrete estate of high-rise tower blocks that were put up in the 1970s. At the age of 22, McIndoe captained the team on numerous occasions and picked up the club Player's Player of the Year award. McIndoe has been accused of being “the mastermind behind the biggest case of fraud to hit the British game” and, if that sounds dramatic, this is how his own autobiography describes the allegations that, by his own admission, have left a permanent stain on his reputation.
