Description

Wove paper feels smooth to the touch and is best suited to writing and printing. Wove is one of the most popular finishes on the market. Many people assume that all paper is the same, but that could not be further from the truth. In reality, just like certain types of fabric are best suited for specific garments, each texture of paper can be appropriate for a unique type of project. Vellum appears smooth to the naked eye, but when you touch it, you will notice a subtle waxy finishes . This paper finish is incredibly versatile and appropriate for scrapbooking, printed books and catalogs, and direct mail.

The only real problem with litho is cost. Litho machines have to be set up prior to each print job, so unless you want to pay a full setup charge just to look at a couple of test prints, you most likely won't know what the finished result will look like until they’re all done.We have the widest range of paper types and colors including pearlescent paper,Kraft, ColorCore and Conqueror and ColourCore. Kraft Business Cardshave arusticfeel and they are made from 100% recycled material. Conqueror Business C ards have 3 differenttextured patterns debossed into the paper. We also have an article about printing onto coloured paperIt covers digital printing, but the effect is the same for litho printing too. The paper is versatile and can be used for a variety of purposes, including calligraphy, sketching, painting, and crafting. The linen texture may not be suitable for all printing projects, so it’s important to consider your specific needs before purchasing.

Some users have reported issues with the paper jamming in their printers, so it’s important to be mindful of this when using the product. The most commonly requested paper we print onto is a pale cream “watercolour” type paper, which is usually used for invitation printing. In fact, we'd say that the vast majority of textured paper enquiries we receive are for exactly this purpose! With that in mind, we’ll use this as an example as we go along and look at the pros and cons of using textured papers. This can be original paintings, pre-scanned files, digital artwork or photographic. This is the best method for artists, photographers, illustrators and creatives looking to create edition prints and copies of their original work on paper or canvas. Giclée printing offers the highest archival (fade resistant) printing with the greatest colour rendition. The key differences between Giclee printing and commercial printing or Lithographic printing are the use of pigment inks versus latex or wax based inks and wider ink colour sets (allowing colour spaces such as Adobe RGB rather than CMYK). Giclée printing also allows us to use higher quality archival Fine Art and Photographic papers. There are many different fantastic textured papers available, with brands like G.F Smith producing huge ranges of beautiful papers. Specialist textured papers are also often colored too, although bright white textured papers are available. The handmade 100% cotton paper is acid-free, chemical-free and tree-free, making it an environmentally sensitive option for your printing needs. If you’re printing colour images onto coloured paper, then it's important to be aware that the colour of the paper will affect the colours in the print. It isn’t always easy to choose the right texture of paper, as there are many options for finishes, weight, and size. Think critically about what message you want to convey. For an event like a wedding, linen paper with crisp lettering could make an elegant first impression. However, if the event is a children’s birthday party, smooth and glossy paper might be a better fit.

We also have an article about printing onto colored paperIt covers digital printing, but the effect is the same for litho printing too. If you’re looking for textured paper for printing, Strathmore Inkjet Paper is a great option that produces excellent results in desktop inkjet printers. The paper is 100% handmade, making it unique and special. (Greate for envelopes and other crafty projects!)

This unique paper texture is similar to what you’ll find on handmade paper, as laid paper features a subtle grid pattern that feels bespoke and handmade. Laid paper is very versatile and looks beautiful for printing stationery, brochures, and invitations. If you’re looking for more of an olde-worlde look, it's possible that the issues with digital printing in this area could actually make your prints look better. As ever, you’ll need to run some print tests, and at least with digital print you can do this cheaply. It’s unfortunate, but as textured papers are harder to manufacture and made in much smaller quantities than regular gloss, silk and uncoated paper, they are far more expensive. The linen finish on both sides of the sheet gives a premium look and feel to your printed projects. It’s important to note that while adding a linen texture is a fantastic way to elevate your project, it can also impact your artwork – specifically when used in conjunction with metallic ink. The reflective quality of both the linen texture and the metallic ink on small text hurts the legibility. This is a rare combination, but something to keep in mind if you plan on using any of these options. In the examples below the metallic ink on the text alone poses no issue, but in combination with the linen texture it becomes a struggle to read in certain lights. It is eco-friendly and made from recycled cotton rags, which is great for those who are environmentally conscious.
