My desk consists of IKEA LINNMON (200×60 cm) with IKEA ALEX drawers and IKEA BESTA units on the side (3×60×42 cm).

Here are some factors to consider: The Alex drawers are 70cm high, the same height as pretty much all Ikea desks. Their sit/stand desks often go down to 70cm. Is this ideal? Remember the Karlby 3.8cm deep, so that means your keyboard will be resting at about 74cm heigh. Ergonomically, for the average female height in the UK, you might want to be considering a desk that goes down to 60-65cm. Does this mean the Karlby & Alex set up is not for you? Not necessarily, other draw units from Ikea and other furniture retailers could have a draw unit the perfect size for you. The IKEA KARLBY countertop I have is 74 inches long and 25 5/8 inches deep, and the total height should be around 29 inches. I considered other drawers/units from IKEA, but the ALEX units met all my criteria and provided a lot of storage.I’ve always hated those desks that you screw together, and then they creak with even the slightest touch. When we knew the fit was as good as we could get it, we marked out the measurements on the counter. We used a table saw for one cut (it was a straighter wall) – I don’t have photos because we both needed to manhandle this giant counter. We also used the table saw to cut it narrower – the depth was a bit much for our tiny bathroom. The desk is an IKEA kitchen countertop that measures 186×62 cm. I chose it because it is more durable and easier to clean than a typical desktop.

I also wanted a desk with enough space for my two 32″ curved monitors and my D&D books. This way, I can have a space for work and for fun. I think my desk setup with a KARLBY walnut veneer countertop is pretty standard, but it’s cool if you like it!

I achieved this with the 2.5-meter walnut KARLBY countertop. The ALEX drawers are great for storing a lot of things within reach. They are deep and come in various sizes to fit everything.
