I’m very impressed with the NEWYES Scan Reader Pen 3. It seems to work well, and the accuracy is very good too, I didn’t (well when I started to use it properly) find the pen make any text mistakes. I saw lots of comments from the internet experts on the TikTok video that Google does something similar, well yeah, obviously. But we all know how that performs when trying to use it, it’s usually littered with nonsense. Plus, this pen can help students in a classroom setting, where it might not be appropriate to whip out you phone to assist you.

A student who has a hard time reading the questions can hardly be expected to be able to provide proper answers. ExamReader assists the students to read the questions but offers no help with the answers. Using ExamReader with earphones enables these students to be in the same room as their piers when taking the test, saving school resources. Exciting ExamReader features Can reliably place the pen on the little space before a word begins and then scan a text from side to side without jittering too much C-Pen Reader 2™ is the next generation reading aid designed for the way we live. It is ready to take on the challenge this semester, with high-speed AI-based text recognition, easy to access dictionary support, word breakdown functions and 16GB of scan-to-file storage. If you’ve decided that you’re interested in buying a reader pen, one final thing you may want to consider is whether you want a stand alone or device dependent pen. Stand Alone Reader PensThe second format is the C-Pen Exam Reader, which has been approved for use in exams by The Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ). This pen still reads text aloud to students as they scan (via headphones), but the dictionary and storage functions are disabled to ensure the user does not obtain an unfair advantage in an exam. Why use the C-Pen?

A concern that parents of students with dyslexia have often have is that a reading pen (or other assistive technology) is kind of “cheating,” that their child will become dependent on it and that their reading will suffer in the long run. The innovative design of the C-Pen makes it suitable for learners aged 6 or over. The manufacturers of the C-Pen have managed to keep the pen light weight so that younger children can easily grip it and don’t struggle to control it. They have also, unlike many other similar devices, installed a camera, which means users don’t have to be so precise with their scanning. After all, we wouldn’t ask a child in a wheelchair to walk around, or ask a child with vision problems to just try and see more. Students with dyslexia have inbuilt, neurological language-based difficulties. That’s simply the way their brains are wired up and they need tools to help them. EN-EN: Collins 30th Anniversary Edition 10th Edition, Oxford Primary Dictionary, New American Oxford Dictionary What’s more, it captures words and locates them for you, giving you instant results. It also remembers the words you have looked up and keeps the history available for you.

Office Lens – Office Lens is a free app that uses OCR technology to allow people to scan a wide range of documents, photos and even whiteboards onto their phone or laptop. Scanned items can be exported as a PDF, placed in the photo library or exported to one of Microsoft’s apps. The pen is rechargeable and features a built-in 1200mAh Lithium-Ion battery. To charge you can use the supplied USB/USB-C cable (which measures 1M) and use any 5V/1A USB power source. Charging takes a couple of hours to charge and is indicted by a LED charging light. Once charged the pen has a 3-hour use time or 80-hour standby time. People, particularly children and young adults, can have difficult emotions associated with reading difficulties and dyslexia. It’s not at all uncommon for students to be embarrassed or feel that people are judging them for their disability. That these pens tend to look like highlighters and can have headphone attachments means that if your child is sensitive about their reading difficulties, particularly in public, they can use these devices without drawing too much attention to themselves.

We sent the C-Pen to a number of real life users so they could test it for us, and this what some of them said: Implementation of the C-Pen at home or in schools does not require specific training. However, some teachers involved in research have claimed that one training session was simply not enough to embed the pen into school life, but that instead students needed more guidance on how and when it was appropriate to use it. Usefulness

That said, as a general rule they do take some practice to get right. We suggest considering a reading pen for dyslexia if your child or student: Having a reading difficulty can seriously limit one’s available opportunities and damage their well-being and confidence. However, the C-Pen helps eliminate the anxiety and embarrassment associated with having to ask for assistance with reading. Instead, it offers those with dyslexia a sense of independence.
