In May 2019, it was announced that the novel, was one of three Dessen books that were picked up by Netflix to adapt into a feature film. In her signature pitch-perfect style, Sarah Dessen explores the hearts of two lonely people learning to connect. Victoria is also in a somewhat covert relationship with one of her grad students, a fact that shakes Auden's perspective of her mother when she finds out. A poor condition book can still make a good reading copy but is generally not collectible unless the item is very scarce. At one point, Auden's father even argues with Heidi, saying there's no point in Auden staying with them for the summer since he's not interested in trying to spend time with her.

After being accepted into Defriese University upon graduating high school, Auden is not sure on how to spend her summer. Auden decides to spend her last summer before college in the beach town of Colby where her father, stepmother and new baby sister live.Emma Pasasrow did capture some of Auden’s awkwardness, and I’d like to see her in a different coming-of-age story. And now, even though he is a new father again, all of his time is focused on working on his new, comeback, novel. She just doesn’t fit in in the environment of fun summer activities, and with the teens who are all participating in those activities. The next morning, Auden says goodbye to her mother, Victoria, an acclaimed literature professor, and drives to her father’s oceanside home a few hours away. Now, spending a summer at a charming beach town with her father and his new family, she has to find new places to pass the time she spends awake.

But I purchased it along with That Summer and a few other books (some good and some dreadfully bad) at a yard sale for 50 cents each.Auden's older brother is the rebel and so Auden feels as though she needs to be the one who satisfies her mother's ambition.
